In recognition of his exemplary leadership in development and the advancement of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), President Dr Irfaan Ali was named the Caribbean Global Leader for 2024.
“After a meticulous analysis and a record-breaking 609 valid votes cast by the public, Guyana’s President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali have been recognised as the Caribbean Global Leader in the People’s Choice category,” the Caribbean Global Awards announced.
Dr. Ali topped the list of ten leaders from across the Caribbean with Barbados Prime Minister, Mia Mottley copping the second spot.
The other leaders are:
3rd: Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell
4th: Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness

“Their vision, commitment and tireless efforts have significantly contributed to the region’s progress and prosperity,” the release stated.
The Caribbean Global Awards aims to celebrate excellence and leadership in the Caribbean region.
The award recognises individuals and organisations making significant contribution to the advancement and development of the Caribbean Community.

I don’t give much credence to this list. If you talk with the common man and woman across the Caribbean, many would have a different opinion of their leaders and their rankings. Prime Minister Browne is highly rated across the region and is liked for his decisiveness and no nonesense approach to things. The only other leader to be so highly thought of is the Prime Minister of Barbados, the Honourable Mia Amor Mottley.
Gaston Browne is ranked 9 out of 10 leaders.I wondered why? This is a rubbish list, how did the President of Dominica get on the list? The Guyana president is elected by the people but the Presidents of the other republics in the region Barbados, Dominica and Trinidad and Tobago are all appointed by their various parliaments, we all know who the leader of Dominica is….fake news!!!

Well well this don’t surprise me at all. This goes to show what a horrible leader this fella is, a man whose focus is only on to getting rich off of his people instead of finding ways to enhance the entire nation. He has No idea of engagement, empowerment or inclusion of all and he should regardless of your political views. The guy try to have his hands in everything and NOT allowing the people that he put in certain role to do their jobs. A dictator who pride himself of making threats when he doesn’t get his way, and threw tantrums like a kid when others don’t agree with him. It’s time for him to go, so I am calling on all citizens to wake up and stand up against this kind of leadership, we deserve better. We need to rise and fight against this oppressive leadership because these politicians were elected to serve the people best interest and not their own interests.
