Prime Minister Gaston Browne has voiced strong criticism against the Observer Media Group (OMG), citing concerns over censorship, biased reporting, and the violation of press freedom.

The Prime Minister’s comments come in response to an interview between Anderson Carty, Community Activist, and Dave Lester Payne on Observer Radio.

“The video below was sent to me,” Prime Minister Browne stated, referring to the interview. He expressed a growing sentiment of dissatisfaction with what he described as “OMG censorship, vitriolic rhetoric, and violation of press freedom.”

According to Browne, even newsroom staff members are facing pressures to engage in biased partisan reporting, compromising their professional integrity.

Furthermore, Browne accused the owners of OMG of lacking interest in fostering honest and enlightened discourse.

Instead, he alleges that their primary agenda is to promote hatred and envy among their hardcore supporters and unsuspecting electors for political gain.

“This is an abuse of power,” Browne emphasized, underscoring the seriousness of the situation. The Prime Minister’s remarks reflect broader concerns about media ethics and the role of media organizations in promoting fair and balanced reporting.

  1. You can not have it both ways, ABS is the government’s mouthpiece?

    • @ Commenting from the distance

Lol, lol, lol, lol you cracking me up.
Such hypocrisy from he of a higher place: Kettle and Pot

  2. PM you are so correct. Censorship is absolutely wrong, be it on private or public media. So on ABS is where this all started and continues every single day must come to an end . The only reporting on anything opposition is when something negative happens to an opposition member.
ABS is owned and paid for by the tax payers of this country and both government and opposition should have equal access. You travel all over the world with that Jamaican guy Berfool and don’t give Antiguans the opportunity.
Just like you the pickey head boy from Point/Villa can run this country. Is just so an Antiguans can be reporters, Port manager, comptroller of Customs. You all don’t want to see any Antiguans advance but you and your families.

  3. Prime Minister Browne, you NEVER complained (and still don’t) when ABS continually promote and espouse everything that you and the ABLP do.

I’ve even seen you in recent times with an ABS microphone 🎤 in your hand, like you were one of their roving reporters.

No way and no how. Paul Benfoot or Burford and ABS should be utterly ashamed of themselves.

Even on the radio, Gaston Browne has biased political support – we’ve all witnessed this distrustful propaganda.

And now you have the gall to complain about media bias.

Gassssston tek note, there’s a well known phrase that goes: “The more you stir s#*t di more it stink!

    • Hon.Gaston Browne , You are correct Observer and UPP are in bed together. What Dave Lester Payne did to Mr. Carty is upsetting. Nothing last forever. Observer will be bankrupted soon.

      • … and hopefully @ GIG, ABS will be cancelled and Burford will have to return to waiting on tables once more.

  4. I have lived in Antigua for the past 44 years. However, I remembered every Saturday afternoon you would be on the Station. You were on with Serpent selling yourself and your wares. Then your Administration tried to shut down the Station. When they moved from Airport to St. John’s.Now you are crying like a girly man taking about freedom of press.Keep your hands and arse off of that Station. Stay on your Rum Shop Radio Station with the pigs at the trough.

  5. @ GASTON

You are slying trying to pretend to show sympathy to Anderson Carty maybe because you want to rope him in in your Rural West campaign for Michael Joseph.
Carty I hope you don’t catch the bait, BUT ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT GASTON BROWN AND THE ABLP and by extension MICHAEL JOSEPH FIRE YOU AND THE OTHER MANAGERS FROM TRANSPORT BOARD.
You would be a dog to support them, no matter how much distaste you might have for the MP that defeated you.

  6. People, mental issues is very serious in Antigua ! Is Point FM that is own by the PM allow freedom of speech ? This is crazy .
