Prime Minister Gaston Browne Calls for Unity and Participation in National Events, Criticizes Opposition for Boycotts
– Prime Minister Gaston Browne has emphasized the importance of national unity and full participation in upcoming events organized by the Evangelical Association, which will involve various Christian denominations, government representatives, and other key stakeholders. The initiative, which aims to foster collaboration among the public and private sectors, as well as political figures, is set to be a significant national gathering.
Speaking on Pointe FM, Prime Minister Browne expressed his hope for widespread involvement, including from the opposition. He highlighted the potential benefits of such participation, noting that it provides an opportunity for learning and collaboration on important issues facing the nation.
However, Browne also expressed skepticism about the opposition’s willingness to engage, suggesting that they may opt to boycott the event. Reflecting on his own time as leader of the opposition, Browne pointed out that he never boycotted national events, despite having disagreements with the then-governing party. He shared a personal anecdote from just before the 2014 general elections, where he made a significant effort to attend a national event, even though he had other pressing commitments.
“I don’t believe in boycotts,” Browne stated. “When you participate, it’s also a learning experience. If we have a conference, for example, dealing with an issue like climate change, and we have experts sharing their experiences, why not participate?”
The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to criticize the opposition’s strategy of boycotting events and continuously attacking political leaders. He argued that such tactics have become ineffective, especially when they fail to engage in meaningful discussions or learning opportunities. Browne noted that the opposition’s persistent criticism of him had reached a peak just before the 2023 general elections, during a time when the country was facing significant challenges, including high living costs and water issues.
Browne concluded by urging all political and societal leaders to move beyond mere criticism and to engage constructively in national dialogues and events, which he believes are crucial for the progress of Antigua and Barbuda.
The Evangelical Association’s upcoming event is expected to be a significant occasion for the nation, and all eyes will be on whether the opposition will heed the Prime Minister’s call for participation or continue their boycott strategy.

Listen I am all for this but there is so much more that we can be doing in our neighborhoods and as citizens.
Many of us have neighborhood watches but we all have the opinion that as long as it doesn’t affect me or as long as they don’t break into my house then I don’t care. Really?? Form a neighborhood watch whatsapp group and keep in contact. See anything suspicious report it. Why are we all so silent, yet when it reaches our doorsteps that we want help?
These people cannot hide forever you know and sadly they will meet the wrong home or business owner who will do all that he/she can to protect his/her home and property.
PARENTS look after your children, because when you have to visit them in jail or worse visit them at the cemetery you can’t blame anyone but yourselves.
Be warned
I hope that the Opposition U.P.P. stay AS FAR AWAY FROM GASTON AND HIS GIMMICK as is humanly possible.
It is obvious that this gaston browne administration has caused what is happening in Antigua today and they should be left all alone to deal with it.
Be careful UPP, this evil mastermind is trying to lure you into another one of his nefarious traps!
REMEMBER, ONCE BITTEN TWICE SHY…
UPSIDE DOWN BIBLE Opposition Leader cant read or speak properly anyway………send a representative!
THIS NATION CANNOT HEAL UNTIL ALL SINCERELY COME TO REPENTANCE…GOD IS NOT A ATM MACHINE THAT YOU JUST SAY DO THIS AND HE DOES WITHOUT YOU MAKING A CHANGE….“14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. 16 For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually. ”

GOD IS REAL…HE DOESN’T FORCE BUT HE IS WAITING FOR ALL TO COME TO REPENTANCE AND HE WILL SHOW US GREAT AND MIGHTY THINGS ♥
Everything is partisan in Antigua and Barbuda and I wish it wasn’t so. Everyone sees things only through their narrow political lens. There is no effort to work across the aisle, no spirit of compromise or bipartisanship on either side. Even in something as important as addressing the crime situation which knows no party, colour or personality, we bicker and quarrel and fight.
Our political leaders must lead and fight for what is best in our national interest and stop this personality war and political grandstanding.
There are times when a national effort is required and that must transcend any other political precondition or stipulation. Tackling crime and the impact it is having on our country today is bigger than ABLP or UPP. Political leaders must send the message to all and sundry that we are ALL in this together.
UPP should attend and take part in the National Prayer Service. They shouldn’t missed this opportunity at consensus building and at offering prayers for our Nation in a joint setting.
The Bible says that when two or three people gather together in the name of Jesus, he will be among them…Matthew 18; 20
In one breath this idiot speaks of one nation concert and revelry, now he critizes UPP for not supporting, “prayer. ” When UPP held a candlelight vigil for the Africans Gaston Browne smuggled here, did the DAWG support? Did he no deny any responsibility and criticize them? Atley Rodney, the DAWG’S puppet denied permission for an anti-crime march, did he chastised the commissioner?
I trust nothing this idiot says or does. UPP run like hell from anything affiliated with Gaston Browne.
The executives of UPP should avoid being part of any initiatives orchestrated by the buffoon. The buffoon previously said “I have more gangs”, it’s the same buffoon’s administration who failed to invite the opposition leader to the Coronation of King Charleslll.
The content and the whereabout of the metal cabinet that arrived in Antigua on one of those flight from Nigeria remains a mystery. In addition, it is noticed since those dubious flights arriving in Antigua, which involves Olabanjo, violent gun crimes have spiral out of control.
The PM should recognise and embrace the reality that he and his administration have failed Antigua miserably and it is their mess and it’s up to them to sort it out.
Apart from divine intervention, which could be achieved without being part of, or having direct involvement the buffoon. God is omnipotent and answers prayers irrespective of where or how prayers are rendered. That asides what or how does he plan on dealing with those wayward thugs.
Has he shifted his stance from matching “steel with steel?” UPP is strongly advised not to take up the invitation. It would not be prudent to join or support any nation building activities with the buffoon, as undoubtedly he is looking for a fall guy, let it not be UPP.
See this the problem with PM Browne. He can’t do anything without a political swipe! Gosh man,you already on your way to ” mashing up” the UPP, which is your intention, by buying who you can buy; cursing who you can cuss; accusing who you can accuse etc. “Kool likkle but no man”. Now you get another chance to be prime ministeretial and you can’t resist infusing you damn politics.
Gaston Browne, the OPPOSITION needs to stay as far as possible from you and your scoundrels. They should not be in the same vicinity as Gaston Browne.End of story.
