Prime Minister Browne pleased with progress of Booby Alley Housing Project
ST. JOHN’S, Antigua and Barbuda – 5th March 2025……“I am very pleased with the progress made so far,” says Prime Minister Gaston Browne following a brief tour of the construc¬tion site of the Booby Alley Housing project in the Point Community on Monday.
PM Browne, accompanied by head of the oversight committee, Ambassador Clarence Pilgrim, members of the Chinese Embassy and the construction com¬pany, CCECC toured the project site to get a first-hand account of the work bring undertaken on the project.
The prime minister, who himself was a contractor before assuming office as the head of government, inquired of the project, including the proposed height of the buildings and even asking about the depth of the pylons used to secure the foundations of the buildings.
“From all indications the project is within budget and timelines that were set. As has been indicated this proj¬ect should be completed by the middle of next year and it will deliver 150-2-bed¬room properties to the former residents of Booby Alley.
They are going to be climate-resilient homes so our people will benefit from a significant upgrade in their physical environment in terms of the quality of homes as they are as good as any in other parts of the world, so I’m very pleased as this is a true transforma¬tional project in which we will be transforming lives,” he stated.
With occupation set for middle of 2026, and with the planned development of a tourism facility on Lower Newgate Street, coupled with the announced plans for Antigua Department of Marine Services (ADOMS) to build a new headquarters building near¬by, the entire area is in for a major transformation over the next 12 to 18 months.
The Booby Alley project is being financed by funding provided by the People Republic of China. The project site will be fenced and landscaped prior to occupation next year. (Ends)

Will the new homes be affordable, or will residents be priced out?
Is this project really for the people, or is it just another political show?
Pleased with progress, but what about other neglected communities?
How are the current residents being supported during this redevelopment?
Hope these homes are built to withstand hurricanes and climate change.
Hope this project truly benefits the original residents and not just developers.
Finally… Long overdue.
Can’t please everyone smh 🤦🏿 Continue doing your best for the people of Antigua and Barbuda
