Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne on Thursday commenced a series of bilateral meetings with Saudi Arabia government officials and companies to address several issues being faced by the government and people of Antigua and Barbuda.
The first meeting was held with the Saudi Arabian company ACWA Power, as he seeks fresh remedies to Antigua and Barbuda’s chronic water production and distribution problems.
The country’s leader discussed funding for the construction of a reverse osmosis plant and a re-piping programme for Antigua and Barbuda.
Since coming into office in 2014, the Gaston Browne administration has spent over $200 million dollars on the construction of reverse osmosis plants and a re-piping programme to improve on the decades old water problem in the country.
Prime Minister Browne is also expected to hold additional bilateral meetings on the construction of additional storage of petroleum with the Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery Company and infrastructural development with the Saudi Investment Fund.
Prime Minister Browne also pointed out that his government hopes to capitalize on the 1Billion dollar investment fund proposed by Saudi Arabia for the possible construction of a hotel at Willoughby Bay.
Prime Minister Browne and the Antigua and Barbuda delegation will continue their bilateral engagements on Friday to include discussions with Prime Minister and Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman.

begging on Arab doorstep to build his own wealth! Why do you think $200 million could not resolve water issues for a small country like Antigua?!?! Im sure Browne is laughing thru his ass everyday at people that continue to vote for him!!!!
Wow. It is amazing to me how cynical we have become. Many of us no longer believe that we can obtain assistance to improve this beautiful place we call home from any part of this world. Quite tragic.
How much does it take to ‘IMPROVE THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE WE CALL HOME?. This man’s sole intention is to shake down investors and donors with whom he contacts and Antigua and Barbuda becomes second. Do YOU think that $200mil is inadequate to get our water woes right? Stop being a sympathizer and follower and see issues for what they really are.
After now spending all that money to produce more than enough water they realize the pipes are old. The pipes were old when they started. Just fix that and reduce the waste…nooo…we have to build all these water plants so people can get contracts to construct them.
Foreign trips such as these MUST include members from the non-ruling arm of the government, since, it’s the PEOPLES BUSINESS which is being discussed and conducted. It’s neither Gaston Browne’s personal business, nor the UPP or ABLP. It’s the PEOPLES BUSINESS.
Now, since Antiguans & Barbudans love to look to North America for guidance, SELECTED MEMBERS to the PARLIAMENT can use a page or two from two of Americas best politicians, as in Michael Bloomberg former Mayor of New York(likely to run for President again, in the future) and Jessie Ventura the former Governor of Minnesota.

Begging and getting nothing. Look who get:
“The Saudi Fund for Development’s (SFD) Chief Executive Officer, HE Sultan Al-Marshad, has signed two developmental Framework Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with the governments of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Saint Kitts and Nevis.”
Do you really think that is a problem to him? What YOU don’t know, is how much me got to put in his pocket. Maybe he pimping out his lady and the Judas. Remember is money we talking about here.
How many RO Plants are in Antigua at this time? Do we need more of those plants. Why not fix the issues with the ones you have now. Here is an idea. Those who installed the Plants.Have them stay for a period of time. They would train the local technicians to trouble shoot the issues as they come up.
I do know of the following RO Plants in Antigua:CRABBES,FORT JAMES,FFRYES,NEAR RUNWAY 10. HOW MANY MORE DO WE NEED?
