Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne met with United States Senator Christopher Dodd to address the ongoing gaming dispute between Antigua and Barbuda and the US.
During the talks, Browne emphasized the millions owed to Antigua and Barbuda following the disagreement.
Additionally, discussions revolved around strengthening regional transportation capabilities, particularly LIAT’s capacity.
Antigua and Barbuda also expressed their desire to be chosen as one of the two countries for the establishment of US embassies in the North Eastern Caribbean.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of Caricom’s 45th regular conference, highlighted the significance of resolving the gaming dispute and enhancing bilateral relations between the nations.

Gassy looking a little fatty here😉
I thought he was on a vegan diet?
Hmmm
Happy 4th!!
Christopher Dodd is no longer a US Senator.
He has not been a senator since 2011. He is in private practice as an attorney, while occasionally he is an advisor to President Biden.
The way it works Gaston, when a former Senator who is an attorney joins a law firm he is a lobbyist. These individuals are rain-makers who keeps the American politics inline with corporate interests.
Be sure any engagement of s high powered lobbyist will be a costly endeavor for Antigua and Barbuda. Hope all goes well. Much success!!
Did you discuss the Alfa Nero?
Antiguas Beg Minister. Why don’t he have his latest US citizen Ambassador Luke do the bidding since he claims he has overseas connections.
ambassador-at-large
an ambassador with special duties not appointed to a particular country.
Thank You sooo much Mr Southwell… This government manipulates so much .. Dodd is a FORMER SENATOR and is RETIRED … no matter what DISCUSSIONS are held with him, he has no influence in the SENATE OR CONGRESS or ANYWHERE as he non longer holds a seat and has not for over a decade
ALSO ANTIGUA WILL NEVER AGAIN HOUSE A US EMBASSY BECAUSE OF CLOSE RELATIONS TO ‘CERTAIN MIDDLE EASTERN COUNTRIES’ THAT THEY HAVE, THAT HALF OF THE POPULATION IN ANTIGUA IS FROM.
I live for the day when this government STOPS manipulating our people
But the same middle eastern country has a US Embassy .
No sir. It does not
And Antigua WILL NOT GET S US EMBASSY AGAIN … meet me back here in 10!years !!!!!
Address: Effective February 6, 2012, the U.S. Embassy has suspended operations and is not open for normal consular services. Neither U.S. passports nor visas to the United States will be issued in Damascus.
Well said @ Lenny H. This Prime Minister really takes Antiguans for damn fools.
He’s making out that Dodd has any power or purpose at present with Antigua & Barbuda when in fact he has ZILCH, NANO, ZERO influence.
IS GASTON BROWNE NUTS?
Who is fooling who here?
At a time when Gaston is in bed with the Chinese, an American Embassy?
Again this another example of photo-op and make me look good PR
Gaston will have to explain what is the monstrosity in Antigua called the “Chinese Embassy” that’s bigger than the Whitehouse all about.
The US biggest competitor on the world stage are the Chinese, who are currently being accused by the US as having a spying station in Cuba.
My guess is that Dodds was at CARICOM as a lobbyist representing one of his clients.
Most likely he was there to represent the interests one of the member of the energy consortium pupping oil out of Guyana.
On returning to DC he will tell his law partners at Arnold Porter “we have a potential new client called Antigua and Barbuda. The partnership executive committee I’m GUESSING will say: Our records show one of the most venerable law firms in Washington DC went under after one of their partners Ron Washington took on a client name Antigua and Barbuda. We will not go down that way.
So here are the deal points I’m guessing Arnold Porter will come back with:
First: they will be glad to work with Antigua and Barbuda Ambassador Ron Saunders
Second: They are aware A&B is about to collect some $60 million dollars from the sale of the Alpha Nero. When the court has cleared the way, Arnold Porter will request these funds deposited into their escrow account. Antigua and Barbuda have to pay a retainer for Arnold Porter to get to work on this account. Given Gaston ambitious requests and other mitigating factors; the Retainer is likely to be around $0.5 million per month.
