Prime Minister Browne: A Decade of Healing Divisions and Fostering Unity

11

Prime Minister Gaston Browne, marking the 10th anniversary of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s (ABLP) election to government, highlighted the party’s efforts to heal divisions and foster unity across the twin-island state.

Browne emphasized the administration’s commitment to integrating Barbuda more fully into national life, rejecting past politics of marginalization.

The ABLP has worked tirelessly amid constant protests to advance Barbuda and ensure its citizens are included in national development.

The administration aims to transform Barbuda into a luxury and sustainable island destination with a well-developed property rights system.

Browne reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining Antigua and Barbuda as a successful unitary state with stakeholder ownership in land and other assets across both islands.

“We are striving to create a cohesive society where every citizen, whether from Antigua or Barbuda, feels valued, and where every community can thrive. No one will be left behind under the leadership of my administration,” Browne stated.

On the international stage, Antigua and Barbuda has been a leading voice within the Organisation of American States and the UN Alliance for Small Island States.

The nation has advocated for issues critical to its survival and prosperity, including the establishment of a Multi-dimensional Vulnerability Index to secure better support for small island states. Additionally, the country is using international law to seek justice for damages caused by climate change.

Browne acknowledged that the accomplishments over the past decade are not solely the triumphs of the ABLP but the result of collective efforts by businesses, workers, and citizens. He urged against complacency and emphasized the importance of maintaining the current governance to seize future opportunities for progress.

  1. I like things being said here except the no one will be left behind when I know I was told, I cannot help you, which means I will leave you behind.

  2. Gaston Browne talks about ” a decade of healing […] and unity”

However, many Antiguans will never forget about Teargas Sunday (involving innocent women and children), and that was within the last 3-4 years.

This alone created much animosity in the country, that we will NEVER forget!

Keep chatting f%#t Gaston about healing and unity – Antiguans know the truth.

God nar sleep 🙏🏽 you excuse for a human being

It’s sad that you always seem to tear down. Administrations are out in place to manage the affairs of the country. We will not always like the decisions made, but we as citizens have a responsibility to adhere to rulings and decisions made by law enforcement.

The PM is asking for healing but you’re willing to relive the past. Everyday is a new one with greater possibilities ahead. Don’t get left behind like mouse that couldn’t understand who moved his cheese.

Sometimes, you have to learn to temper your tone as it becomes noise after a while.

It is noise that he is making. He has long gone.
Hiep hiep hiep for Gaston Browne.

  5. Foreign criminals are running riot while Antigua people are locked up tight in dem house can’t even open the window for a little breeze when night come, record crime numbers, no water, no current, and no jobs. It was a decade of utter failure.

  6. @ Mr Byam

Don’t let the minions hear you say that about heaven on earth in Gaston’s heavenly kingdom, where the streets in Antigua are made of gold (not pot holes) and it is constantly reigning milk upon us.
These people are so dumb, even dumber

  7. @ Dave Ray, as much as I respect your opinion and responses, the fact is that the country that I love and adore deserves a better leader at the helm.

Gaston Browne isn’t transparent and accountable to the patriotic citizens of Antigua & Barbuda.

    WE DESERVE SO MUCH BETTER!

This island is a great place, however, the fly in Antigua’s ointment is the current incumbent.

When he deals with transparency, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and does what he promises, then PATRIOTIC Antiguans like me will ease up, but not until then.

Much respect again Mr Ray, I thoroughly enjoy debating with you – even though you nah live yah. 👍🏾

And as for @ From The Sideline, I can’t be bothered … 😂😂😂

  8. @Brixtonian:
I’m there rather often and continue to contribute to my island and alma mater in a tangible way. I pay taxes on property there as well.
The PM has made himself available on Saturday afternoons from 4pm – 8pm at times to answer questions from callers as they are not screened.

It is unheard of throughout the Caribbean for a Prime Minister to be as vulnerable as he has been, notwithstanding the numerous citizens who wait outside the studio every Saturday to see him.

He still plays a game or two of football with his constituents. Who do you suggest is better at leading Antigua and Barbuda during these crucial times? Are they elected?

The people have spoken 3 times over, by electing him as the leader of the country. In his own constituency, he has been winning his seat since 1999. Are you now calling the voters of City West stupid, silly, dunce for voting in their country’s best interests?

It’s okay to disagree with issues if you genuinely believe that there is another way, but to be vitriolic on every issue makes your argument meaningless, with all due respect. He will be the PM until the next election.

If you have more than one X to offer at the polls during the next general elections, then there is no need to continue to fight a losing battle.

  9. It’s all about opinions @ Dave Ray, funny enough though, I thought like you way back in 2014, where Gaston Browne’s wordplay and promises were believable at that moment in time – I believe he could have helped the country and bring along Antiguan citizens with him – but he’s divisive.

    NOT A GREAT LOOK DAVE.

I distinctly recall that within a couple of years of him being elected Dave, there was a lot more talk from the Prime Minister than action, especially if you look back at his 2014 manifesto promises.

Broken, one after another. Many Antiguans had awaken to these facts.

Now fast track to 2024, and the disrespect and contempt Browne shows towards hardworking Antiguans living here, when all we are asking for is transparency in governance, but he will not do so

    Why Dave, why?

And in addition, the Most Honourable Richard Lewis has been using the LEGAL framework/avenue of the Freedom of Information Act for goverment conduct and clarification from Gaston Browne; and yet he hides behind his uncouth rhetoric and undulating verbosity.

    Again, why Dave why?

I STAND BY WHAT I ORIGINALLY STATED … ANTIGUA & BARBUDA DESERVES A BETTER LEADER.

Even Daryl Matthew’s would be a progression for the ABLP. He seems to have a heart for the youth and local community.

Remember my ABG mantra Dave, Anyone But Gaston!

Nice debate once more … and never meaningless 😉

  10. BTW Dave, outstanding last paragraph … you almost took me down on that one.

NICE JOUSTING ⚔️ MY BROTHER. TOUCHÉ 😂

  11. You pay taxes on which property in Antigua but you owe people money and owe for attending events with a promise to pay. Damn scamp
