The Meeting will be co-chaired by Caricom Chairman Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell of Grenada and the President Castro. This event marks 45 years of diplomatic relations between CARICOM and Cuba.

Climate change, in light of a very active hurricane season in 2017, is expected to be a major focus of the meeting.

A Memorandum of Understanding between Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and Cuba’s Agency for Civil Defence will be siged at the end of the meeting. The agreement is expected to provide opportunities for closer collaboration.
