REAL NEWS- The high unemployment rate in St. John’s Rural South – and across the country, in general – is of concern to Gladys Potter, the United Progressive Party (UPP) Candidate for that constituency.
The rate of unemployment is reported to be above 20 percent and is impacted by the number of hotel workers who have been out of work since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Potter is very concerned about the high percentage of Rural South youth, in particular, who are desperately in need of a job. She is worried that the continued rise in the cost of living will have a negative mental and emotional impact on these persons.
The UPP Candidate says she is doing everything in her power to assist constituents who are seeking employment to find work, and has she devised a programme in this regard.

Under the ABLP, the unemployment rate is way too high percentage wise when you measure it up against the rest of the country.
One question though, are there any ABLP CABINET members living in the constituency/area?

This is great to hear. Too often politicians only show up in communities for photo ops right before an election. If members of all opposition parties spent time implementing helpful small scale community programmes continuously, they would have a better idea of the needs of their constituents, and persons might be more willing to vote for them to fix bigger problems.
Would be good to know exactly what her programme does though…

Keep up the good work Gladys. This country needs good governance. Honest people that are committed and getting things done properly and will not be reckless with the public purse. Despite Michael Browne’s “credentials” Carnival has been a disaster. All the shows flap and the right hand has no clue what the left hand is doing. I hope that artistes and vendors will get paid on time as bright as the Festivals Minister is. Looking at the attendance at all of the shows so far, I doubt that the gate receipts can cover the light bill at ARG.
