The V C Bird International Airport faces potential disruptions in the coming weeks due to a conflict between airport taxi drivers and management. The United Taxi Association, representing the airport, has issued warnings of possible strikes if their demands go unmet. Tensions heightened following a petition from members seeking the removal of an executive accused of being antagonistic and disrespectful, leading to concerns about inadequate communication.

Members Ian Joseph and Keithroy Benjamin clarified that the dispute revolves around safeguarding rights and livelihoods. Frustration mounts among the association’s forty-five active members due to the delay in holding elections for a new executive, originally scheduled for June. Joseph mentioned the possibility of a sit-in at the airport if the matter remains unresolved by next week.

An interim body has been established to act as a temporary governing team until a permanent executive is elected. However, Henely Daniel, the President of the UTA, expressed unawareness of any interim executive and remains optimistic that the issue can be resolved. Stay tuned for updates on this developing situation at V C Bird International Airport.
