Polls Close in St Peter By-Election as Vote Counting Set to Begin

Polling stations in the St Peter constituency closed at 6:00 PM today, marking the end of a day-long by-election that saw a steady stream of voters turning out to cast their ballots. Those already in line will be allowed to cast their ballots.

The next critical phase of the process—vote counting—is set to commence shortly, with election officials ensuring all protocols are in place.

The counting will take place at the Parham Primary School.

Residents of St Peter turned out steadily throughout the day, with no major incidents reported at the polling stations. Election officials praised the efficiency of the process, citing the orderly conduct of voters and the commitment of the electoral staff.

Over 4600 electors are registered to vote in the by election which arose following the murder of former MP Asot Michael in November.

As ballots are transported to the counting center from the 11 polling stations, party agents and independent observers are preparing to oversee the tallying process.

Both Rawdon Turner of the Antigua Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) and George Wehner of the United Progressive Party (UPP) have expressed confidence in their campaigns as the vote counting gets underway.

The results of this by-election are expected to be closely watched, with significant implications for the political landscape of St Peter and Antigua and Barbuda. All eyes now turn to the counting centers as the constituency awaits its next representative.

  1. BUY ELECTION; TURNER SHELL OUT YALL TAX PAYERS MONEY FOR VOTES!

THEM PARHAM PEOPLE CANNOT BE SERIOUS AFTER WHAT THEY DID TO ASOT.

  2. As I said it was a foregone conclusion from the moment the election was announced. I also stated that the UPP candidate George Whenner did a hell of a job under the circumstances and must be encouraged. It is my view that he was a far better candidate than Peter Reds and should continue as the care taker. The UPP needs to get it act together. If they did not implode after the convention, they would have done much better. The results will not show the type of campaign that George Whenner mounted. George you have nothing to be ashamed of.
To Hon. Turner please move away from ASOT Michael type of politics. First thing is to stop calling his name and build your own reputation. You are an educated young man with good potential. Paraham for example can be turned into a nice little hub. Use your construction skills and develop your constituency. Provide your constituents with opportunities and not handouts.
What ever portfolio you are given stay away from greed and corruption. Stay away from using the government for self enrichment. Stay away from corruption. Use the opportunity to build on your communication skills and presentations in the lower house. One more thing – I know that you cannot sustain the level of infrastructure work that being taking place in the constituency. However, downscale if you may but don’t ever stop between now and the general election. Don’t continue this election gimmick, it will backfire soon and pretty soon.
God bless Antigua , Barbuda. God bless our democracy.
