The 56th annual police week kicked off over the weekend, held under the theme “Combining our efforts to achieve safety and security.”
In his opening remarks, Commissioner of Police Altee Rodney acknowledged that this year’s activities have been scaled down due to the increasing demands on the police force.
“You are aware that our primary duty is to maintain law and order and protect our citizens,” Rodney stated. “In 2024, we were called upon to provide policing services for the 4th International Conference for Small Island Developing States (SIDS 4), the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, hurricane relief efforts, Carnival, a rise in crime, and other events.”
Despite the challenges, Rodney affirmed the force’s continued focus and dedication, highlighting that their efforts are yielding positive results.
“I want to assure you that the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda will not become complacent. We remain fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of all,” he said.
Rodney also emphasized the importance of collaboration with key stakeholders as they move forward in their mission.
