From them na get a hand chop off it not going to stop time to mark them
Hmmmmm
There has to be patrol cars in neighborhoods 24/7. Steadroy Benjamin claimed he knew where all the hotspots are so why not have a stronger police presence there?
Look, when he comes out applauding the cops, for what I don’t know, I just get the feeling their half-assed efforts are really for appearances only.
No press conferences,no updates, no plan. What a joke this government is! They can do nothing right.
It’s time to ban hoodies in Antigua. Every report made about any criminal activity, the perpetrators are always wearing a hoodie. When will our police & Attorney General get it right with the rise in crimes
Meanwhile money acquired from the sale of the Alpha Nero will be spent to build new hotel. What about equipping the police force with the necessary tools and resources needed, such as a proper finger print database, an efficient crime and forensics lab with qualified staff, a strategic crime fighting plan, more vehicles to patrol? Come on man!!!
This article is the furthest the police search will go. There will be no serious follow up. They either have no clue on what to do or no interest to get the matter resolved.
Cabinet needs a report from the commissioner on the number of robberies reported, the number that has been resolved and the number that is outstanding. The figures I am sure will be shameful. My guess is that the resolution rate less than 10% but I could be wrong.
Once the figures are received, details of outstanding cases should be investigated so see what follow-ups were done, an assessment of each investigating officer to see which ones are performing, etc. In short, cabinet may have to do the commissioner and AG ‘s job.
Then, if it is shown that the AG and Commissioner not doing their job, we may need to replace them. But someone needs to be held accountable and the government/PM has ultimate responsibility,
We need to get better at policing this country .. you have police officers dropping there girlfriend/wife/friend to work or picking there children up from school, using the tax payers vehicles, when they should be out patrolling, there is crime everywhere in the world but there should be some sort of accountability, who is in charge? Why not replace underperforming officers from the top and the bottom.. why is the only solution suggested is for business owners to get a security guard? Don’t you see something wrong there? .. its early enough for us to make changes, let’s make changes..
Me think their should be profiling as soon as someone is spotted in hoodie, just photograph them and search them, so you have data base to work with. Don’t care who cry discrimination.
If you are black looking young guy wearing a Hoodia (with this dammm hot around) automatically you need to be targeted as A THIEF in his way to commit a felony…this cucarachas punks, need to be HEALING in a holistic beaten and so.om way.
I have been speaking along time about the crime problem of Antigua. But if you say anything, ABLP supporters and those within the party at the helm of government agency, will ensure they threatened your life and those of your family members for speaking up on their errors. They will literally encourage criminals to commit vicious crimes against you and your family.
This Whenner road is in the news a lot for robbery, and come on, nobody have officers designated to that area day and night? Since it is a clear Hotspot for incidents.
Someone said it already. This article is as far as it will go. The police will not follow up, they will not find this man and the case will go stale like the rest of the cases in Antigua. Asking people to call CID is laughable because what does that department even do?
The police force in Antigua needs a BIG shake up. Too many lazy officers just happy to put on the uniform and feel like they are something. Sad sad sad. People are dying and people are living in fear GET UP!!
Police can’t solve shit ..: my mother in law house got broken into in a “nice” neighborhood..: police came and looked around … didn’t dust for prints nothing… they told us we can come to the station but in 2 days … 2 days after to give a report because the officer who took the case was going to be out … we went, gave the report and that was that.
It’s funny there is a police jeep always parked up around the neighborhood and when we inquired about it … we were told the police man lives with his mother in another village but stays at his house because one of his children’s mother lives there and the police vehicle is always there .. smh .. are police vehicles private vehicles? … that could be put to better use patrolling some area making the country safe.
