Two men were trapped in a bar by the police following an anonymous tip about an illegal firearm.

The tip was received on June 6, reporting that a man carrying a gun was seen at East Bus Station. The informant chose to remain anonymous.

According to the caller, the description matched Trevor Powell from Villa.

When the officers located Powell at the scene and approached him and his companions, they all fled into a nearby bar.

However, the police managed to apprehend them inside.

During a search of Powell, an unlicensed modified flare gun with one bullet was discovered concealed in his waist.

He was arrested and charged with illegal possession of both the firearm and ammunition.

Powell was brought before the St. John’s Magistrate’s Court and remanded in custody until August 10.

Additionally, Lyndon Roberts, who was also found with drugs in the same bar, was fined $1000.

The police discovered a bag belonging to Roberts on the floor and upon searching it, found multiple small Ziploc bags containing a total of 23.7 grams of cannabis.

In summary, the police responded to an anonymous tip regarding an illegal firearm, resulting in the apprehension of two individuals.

Trevor Powell was charged with illegal possession of a modified flare gun and ammunition, while Lyndon Roberts faced penalties for the possession of cannabis.

  1. Hmmm…. A flare gun….. I wonder, wasn’t the robbery at St. Joseph’s Academy alleged to have been carried out by the alleged perpetrator using such a weapon?
Kudos to our Police Officers who responded, followed the trail and were able to apprehend the men.
Kudos to the person who called in the information leading to this arrest.
God’s willing, other citizens, residents will follow this person’s lead and whenever we see something, we say something. It is a part of the arsenal we have to help in the scourge of crime we wish to eliminate.

    • This came to mind also. Detective do your job, you claim one is in custody it shouldn’t be this difficult to apprehend the other. Flare gun, Villa, Academy school, East bus station.

  2. A big thank you going out to the good citizen who tipped off the police. But why arrest the other for weed? Thought it was legal.
