The Police have recently concluded another Internal Development Training Course, with twenty-one officers from the Special Services Unit (SSU), successfully completing a refresher’s training at the Sir Wright F. George Police Academy.
Officers from the rank of Constable to Corporal participated in the one-week training, which ran from Monday 28th September to Saturday 3rd October. A wide range of topics was covered; including, The Public Order Act, Use of Force Policy, Tactical Casualty Combat Care, First Responders and Safe Encounter\Prisoners Handling, to name a few.
This, and several other courses conducted at the training facility is in keeping with the overall mandate of the Police Administration; to ensure all officers within the rank and file of the police force are adequately trained and equipped with the right tools, to better serve the people of Antigua and Barbuda, more efficiently.
During the brief closing ceremony, both the Commissioner of Police, Atlee Rodney and Deputy Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers urged the participants to remain relevant and efficient, if they are to defend the rights of the people and the safety and security of this country.
The training in most parts was conducted by certified police officers from within the police force. Each participant was awarded a certificate for completing the course.

I guess correct mask wearing was not on the syllabus, even though officers are to enforce fines???
Constable’s mask does not cover her nostrils.
And this PR photo just 24-hrs after commissioner saying he was going to ‘deal with officers wearing masks incorrectly’
SMH…ohh my!
No social distance is required for taking pictures in uniform, covid is not effective when one have to a photo shoot for the media, but if one is at a bar with mask on conversing the same people will quick to condemn and say people are too close.
