Police to Ramp Up Stop and Search Operations Ahead of Carnival

Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodeny

Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney says a robust plan will soon be disseminated and implemented specifically for carnival.

Rodney said: “We are putting things into play.

Very soon, the whole operation order will be distributed among every member of the force so they have an appreciation of their role and responsibility.

We’ll be doing more stop and search and conducting more checks.

Our intelligence officers will pay attention to known individuals likely to cause disruption.

There are proactive measures we are taking, and we have been seeing results in terms of executing warrants and conducting stop and search this year.

We will continue with that momentum.

As always, we speak to the organizers of Fetes and persons having shows, as well as patrons, to remind them of their responsibility to assist in keeping the environment safe.”

  1. Well let’s see what this police force is made of. If this force wants back it’s good name, let’s see if they can prove to the Antiguan people that they are on top of things. They had a whole year to prepare, so let’s see it in full effect for this carnival.

I’ll be down next week, so I’m hoping for them to put their biggest foot 🦶 forward.

  2. RODNEY:Why would you announced your plans in advance? Stop and search must and should be done covertly. Then let the words get out while it is in full operations. You have given those of criminal intents a heads up.Any criminals getting caught after your pronounces are dumber than a door nail.
