POLICE CALL FOR SOBER BEHAVIOR FOR REMAINDER OF CARNIVAL
The Police Administration is calling upon the general public to conduct themselves soberly and responsibly for the remainder of the carnival season.
The appeal comes as several fights broke out among revellers armed with weapons, during Monday’s J’ouvert Morning Street Jam in St. Johns.
This resulted in the police taking a decision to bring an early end to the J’ouvert celebrations after careful assessment and consideration for the safety and security of thousands of revellers on the streets in the city.
The crowds were asked to disperse to prevent a further breach of the peace, and this was done without any further incidents.
Two persons were taken to the hospital with stab wounds, following a fight on Redcliffe Street. They are said to be in stable condition and their injuries are not life-threatening.
Meanwhile, the police continue to appeal for a safe end to Carnival 2024. Members of the public are warned from carrying around sharp or blunt objects, such as knives, scissors, pieces of wood, or iron on their person.
Anyone found with these items will be arrested.

Additionally, the police are once again appealing to street vendors and bar owners to cooperate with authorities and desist from selling drinks in glass bottles and cans.
Failure to comply will result in your removal from the streets and revocation of liquor licenses.

I’m with this person 100% but only in antigua we don’t abide by the rules.
Before carnival and J’ouvert morning, incidents of knife crimes in Antigua was on the rise for a few years now; and concerned citizens were calling out for action and a reaction from the Commissioner of Police Attlee Rodney.
His response was more than non-existent.
And here we are with a knife crime within a week or so of carnival, and the police response has been SWIFT and on point to stop further mayhem.

Call for sober behavior?? Lmao😂🤣….The only way that is going to happen is to ban alcohol during the fetes and carnival festivities…They are going to be drunk and out of control and the youths fueled with anger from disputes are going to be high, drunk and armed… Unfortunate reality…
