The police are investigating an accident earlier today which left one of their own injured.
According to reports, the officer riding a motorcycle sustained a broken leg after colliding with container truck on Factory Road near the Sagicor Life Building.
Reports indicate that the officer, on motorbike, was travelling from East to West behind a 40-foot container truck. The truck driver attempted to make a right turn onto Lady Nugent Avenue, reportedly after indicating that he was about to do so.
The officer is alleged to have tried overtaking the truck at this time, and collided with the vehicle, falling from his bike.
Onlookers say because he was disoriented, he was unable to stand. Emergency vehicles were summoned to the accident site, and the officer was transported to the Mount St. John Medical Centre.
