The Police Commissioner of Antigua and Barbuda has confirmed an investigation into a Facebook post suggesting gun violence against Prime Minister Gaston Browne.

The post appeared over the weekend following an assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump.

Commissioner Rodney stated that investigators have identified the individual behind the post and are pursuing the matter.

Rodney emphasized that inciting violence on social media is a criminal offense and unacceptable behavior.

“Making threats using electronic devices is a criminal offense. We have legislation to enforce the law,” he said.

He urged the public to refrain from sharing violent and threatening content online and affirmed the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order.

“Violence is not acceptable and will not be part of our culture. The police force will use all efforts to minimize such risks.”

  1. I wish the police were as quick as this when its crime against so called ordinary people. I say so call ordinary because no body better than me.

  2. Whether one support Prime Minister Browne or not, you must respect the fiduciary position and the office which he holds. He is the Prime Minister not just for members of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party but for all of Antigua and Barbuda. He deserves the honour and respect of all. Threats against him or anyone for that matter is wrong and cannot and should not be tolerated and taken lightly. Disagreement is your fundermental right but you cannot issue threats against anyone and think that it is acceptable.
We see recently in the United States what happens when these heated rhetoric are allowed to flourish. We do not wish for that level of violence to be perpetuated here. And all our elected leaders must set the tone and example and sadly, the rhetoric coming out of both sides of the political aisle has been divisive, disruptive, discordant and supportive of this morally reprehensible behaviour. Our leaders must lead from the front. To call members of Parliament imbecile, dumb and dunce as I often hear coming from Parliamentarians mouth on their radio station, on social media and on other platforms is wrong and sends the wrong message.
Let’s all learn to be respectful of each other even in disagreement. It’s the only way to build a mature Antigua and Barbuda.

  3. Lock them up for inciting violence against the prime minister look what happen in America to Donald Trump, this is the lawlessness you all want to see happen in Antigua. you all need to stop the nonsense before it gets out of hand.

  4. If true, I find this tremendously horrific for anyone to threaten the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda and any other Minister of government. This allegation must be taken seriously and as stated in my previous recommendation on crime reduction, an intelligence and national security unit (INSU) should be formed in Antigua and Barbuda. This unit will also be charged with analyzing national security threats that includes PM and ministers safety threats.

I believe it is okay to say it is unfair or incompetent or be upset that a minister of government is ignoring your plea for assistance that is of national importance or for saying the crime rate and types of crimes occurring is not bad, and I can understand you should be upset but at no time should you even consider criminal acts against the PM or other government officials to be an option.

This remind me of about 1 or 2 weeks ago, an ABLP person, very close to the PM encouraged criminals to commit criminal acts against me that includes robbery, burglary, false imprisonment, kidnapping, larceny and even murder during the commission of these crimes against me. At no time could a person justify such action, especially being a part of the leading political party, ABLP.

Especially risking my family who are supporters from birth and up to this day. I find this persons actions to be criminal and highly outrageous.

From me arguing that the folks are unfair and in competence (only that I said), while this person encouraging vicious and inherently dangerous crimes to be committed against me and my family.

Again, at no time unjustified violence is appropriate. I condemn any and all threats of harm to the Prime Minister and any Minister of Government or officials in the government or against citizens. No matter how unfair and incompetent that may be. Use your vote, your voice and your acts that are legal and act that way.

Do not be like the criminal who threatened my family’s life and mine. I know these people do not know how dangerous it is to encourage numerous men to kill or commit vicious crimes against a person for simply saying something is unfair subjectively and objectively.

  5. NO MATTER WHAT THOSE INTERNET GANGSTERS TRY. THEY WILL NEVER STOP WORLD BOSS ..NEVER!!!
