Police investigating death threat against ABS general manager

Lawmen are trying to determine the identity of a person who wrote a death threat against the General Manager of ABS Television and Radio Erna-Mae Braithwaite.

The threat was uncovered over the weekend after the company’s suggestion box was cleared.

One of the notes in the suggestion box contained a threat to kill the controversial manager who is credited with shaking things up at the state entity.

The suggestion laced with expletives, warns Braithwaite to “get out of ABS or I will kill you.”

The threat added, “it would benefit everyone if you left.”

It is not yet known who scribbled the pencil written note and placed it in the suggestion box. However, the box was placed in the staff kitchen for use by employees who wish to make either known of anonymous suggestions to improve the working environment.

Police visited the ABS building yesterday and an emergency meeting was held with staff today.

In response to our questions, Braithwaite told Antigua News Room that our source should have supplied us with all the information.

No one has been arrested.

When she was named ABS GM in 2014 Braithwaite was an unpopular choice. Staff accused her of treating them poorly, a claimed she denies.

They protested on more than one occasion to force her removal but Braithwaite enjoys strong support from Information Minister Melford Nicholas.
