Police Intercept Illegal Firearm at V.C. Bird International Airport

Source: Real News Antigua-  The Police have prevented an illegal firearm from reaching the streets, following an interdiction exercise conducted by the Narcotics Department in conjunction with the Customs Enforcement Unit.

Reports say the Police went to the V.C. Bird International Airport in search of illegal drugs. Instead, officers discovered a brown cardboard box with one airsoft pistol, along with eight rounds and a cartridge.

The illegal gun and ammunition were seized and taken to Police Headquarters for further investigation.

  1. Okay! I thought that if it was left long enough at the airport someone would be caught trying to collect it! .. but I guess there are other means of investigating.

    • Based on the article it’s an Airsoft gun, i.e. a toy that shoots bbs, not an actual firearm necessarily worth staking out to capture who collects it. The “illegal” nature of it may be since nowadays most things resembling a firearm aren’t allowed in the country.

  2. I don’t know if seizing one firearm at the airport is really a news worthy item. It did not even name a suspect or the name of someone that was arrested. Probably, no real news today.
