Traffic Department on Enforcement Drive
The traffic department has stepped up its vigilance across the island in an effort to improve road safety.
On Friday, July 12, the traffic department conducted several separate traffic checks and issued 122 tickets for various traffic violations, including driving while using a mobile phone, driving without seatbelt, and parking in restricted areas.

The police also impounded 20 vehicles for not being licensed, while more than a dozen drivers were asked to remove excessively dark tints from their vehicles.
A 19-year-old Golden Grove man was also arrested and charged for careless Driving, driving without a valid driver’s license, driving an unlicensed and uninsured vehicle, failing to remain on the scene of a traffic collision, and taking without consent of the owner.
The police continue to appeal to drivers to drive with due care and attention and observe all traffic signs.
The police are further asking motorists to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and their license and insurance are up-to-date.

NOW ANTIGUANS ARE HOPING AND PRAYING 🙏🏽 THAT OUR POLICE FORCE WILL GO AFTER THE CRIMINALS WITH THE SAME VIGOUR AS DRIVERS …
Dark tints , illegal parking , driving without liscense or permission do not kill people …RECKLESS DRIVING DO ..
THEM IS WHO YOU NEED TO GO AFTER !!
Ok
People have bragged and boast to me that they have been issued tickets and to date they are yet to pay them. Yet they are able to renew vehicle and drivers license.
86 years old and never parked in a disabled spot. Exercise is good. Respect for the less abled is necessary. At $500 per infarction at Wood’s Center and Epicurean alone. There is a fortune to be reaped.
if your police officers would be professional and do their jobs instead of looking women and doing them favors these tickets would be paid. if people in high places are held accountable for their actions and charged, and if the friend and company shit stops, but this is Antigua, a dirty lawless place.
Why not go after the sellers of said tint or better enforcement at customs where they can stop the tints from coming into the country
If the Traffic Cops with the motor cycles would patrol the heavy traffic highways during peak time, we would be able to get alot of the crazies off the road. However, the heads of the Police Force dod not have a clue. They are still doing the things they did 50 years ago. Additionally, the Magistrates need to get their act together. I see a Magistrate banned an unlicensed young lady for moving a car that was blocking the traffic flow and the license of her boyfriend who owned the car was also suspended. Yet people go in front of these Magistrates for major infractions and get a little fine. Something is just not right with the justice system.
