Antigua’s Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodney has reported substantial progress in the investigation of the murder of MP Asot Michael, revealing that investigators have “gathered quite a bit of information” since the case was launched.
“This is a serious investigation, and we are putting all our resources into it,” Rodney said during an interview on Observer Radio. “So far, we’ve gathered a significant amount of information, but there is still much more to do, especially within these crucial initial stages.”
The Commissioner described the scene as extensive and challenging to process, requiring a full team of serious crime investigators to comb through every detail. “The compound is large, and it takes time to process the entire scene. We are making sure that nothing is overlooked,” Rodney explained.
To bolster the investigation, Rodney confirmed that Antigua’s police are in communication with regional and international partners, including Scotland Yard, to bring additional expertise to the case. “We’ve reached out to our regional partners for resources we might need, and a formal request has been made to the government to seek assistance from Scotland Yard,” he said.
Rodney also appealed for patience from the public as the investigation progresses, reiterating that the police are committed to a thorough approach. “Every piece of information from the scene and anyone connected to Mr. Michael is being examined closely,” he said. “We want to ensure that this investigation is comprehensive and meticulous, as it should be in a case of this gravity.”
The investigation, led by one of Antigua’s most senior and experienced detectives, continues to draw on all available resources to swiftly bring those responsible to justice. Rodney urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information about the case, reminding them to rely on official updates from law enforcement.
The police have not yet identified a primary suspect but are interviewing persons of interest. Rodney concluded, “We are doing everything possible to resolve this case and bring closure to Mr. Michael’s family and the public.”

They should have! with the security setup Asot had. Now is either Asot turned off his security system at that very moment and if he did I want to believe is because he felt comfortable without any danger. Saying this so means that this murderer was a regular visitor and personal friend, to whom Asot was closely acquainted, so this visit could’ve been a routine gorn wrong. This individual I believe after being there so many times knew the whole set up both in and out, possibly the whereabout and of all cameras, safes and guns etc. This is a case that must be jump on swiftly since this individual most likely if not already will try and jump ship.Yes every case is important, but this was an unbeatable MP who’ve been in government for most of his political career.
