Members of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda are mourning the sudden and tragic passing of Police Constable Clarence Cameron, following a traffic collision on All Saints Road, on Tuesday 3rd August.

The allegations are that Cameron was traveling from west to east on the said road at a fast rate of speed when he apparently lost control of his blue Suzuki Swift Motor Car. The vehicle ran off the southern side of the road and collided with a Concrete Fence and a wooden utility pole. His body was reportedly thrown from the vehicle upon impact.

Denise Horsford of Upper Gambles was a passenger on board the said vehicle and had to be freed from the wreckage using the jaws-of-life. She suffered facial injuries and is reported to be in stable condition at the Sir Lester Bird Mount St. John Medical Center.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Atlee Rodney has reached out to the immediate family of Constable Cameron and expressed sympathy on behalf of the entire police force. He said “The loss of Constable Cameron or any member is always painful; especially under the circumstances in which he died”. He described Cameron as one who had a quiet personality and a friendly smile. Mr. Rodney has also offered to provide the family and close colleagues with the necessary support and counseling they need to help cope with the loss.

Likewise, His Excellency, The Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda, Sir Rodney Williams, and the Hon. Prime Minister, Mr. Gaston Browne; along with the Minister of Public Safety and Labour, Hon. Steadroy Benjamin has all expressed words of condolences to the members of the police force for their loss.

Constable Cameron served in the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda for twenty-one unbroken years. He became a member on December 1st, 1999, and worked in several departments such as the Transport and Maintenance Department and also the Traffic Department where he was last attached. 1. Condolences to all who are impacted by this loss of life.
Let us however learn the lesson this tragedy is teaching.
    Speed kills.
It is even harder to bear when the person who has died worked within the Transportation sector of the police department, and would therefore have been preaching ‘road safety’.
Now, I am not castigation the late Officer, and I feel for his family, his friends and his co-workers, but we, all of us, we need to practice what we preach.
If we say, ‘Seat belts save lives’, then we MUST wear them ourselves.
If we say ‘Observe the traffic codes’, then we Must observe speed limits.
If we say ‘Leave early to arrive early’, then we MUST manage our time to achieve that.
Once more, my sincerest condolences to all.

  2. My sincere condolences go out to the officer’s family & friends & a wish of speedy recovery to the young lady…….. On the other hand, this man has 21 years of unbroken service, he was good worker & worked in several depts; yet still this man died as a constable? Is this the way the police force treat people? Where is that sense of empathy & loyalty from the hierarchy in the force? A man deserves his flowers while he is alive in contrast to getting such flowers when he no longer has life…… May his soul RIP

    • Only when you are gone you were good. Friends and companies of the Police Service Com and Seniors are rewarded to carry news and water. You talk truth they turn you down. Yes, he was one of the best outriders but…….He had a personal problem and before helping him he was thrown to the wolves but now he is gone he was soo good. This world………but karma is not dead. Help will be sought for those who are alive but RIP Clearance.

      • Thank you 🙌🏽

They do nothing to uplift. They’re all saying good things for the media but behind closed doors they’re chastising him
