Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodney has declared that the police force will significantly enhance its presence in and around St John’s starting this week, aiming to bolster security during the festive season.

The top cop issued a cautionary statement, urging citizens and residents to be vigilant and aware of potential dangers in their surroundings.

“It is the Christmas season, and we want everybody to take all necessary precautions to ensure their safety,” Commissioner Rodney emphasized. To reinforce this message, the police force has produced a musical video urging people to stay safe during the holidays.

“We will be stepping up our operations, with additional personnel arriving in the city from Monday, all in an effort to provide safety and security for our community during this time,” Commissioner Rodney stated.

The increased police presence is a proactive measure to address the recent surge in brazen daylight robberies, with petrol stations among the targeted businesses.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by business owners, Commissioner Rodney made a plea for a unified approach to curb crimes against businesses and households. “We are asking business persons to redouble their efforts to be safe at this time of the season. Don’t be complacent, especially business persons. We are asking business persons to take some additional precautions, such as employing more security officers if necessary, to keep their businesses and the community safe.”

“For this Christmas, we are looking forward to cooperation from the business sector, the ordinary man on the street, and the police force is committed to playing its role to keep the nation safe for the season,” Commissioner Rodney affirmed.
