Police COULD arrest Nigel Christian’s killers in a few weeks — PM

Here’s what the PM said on March 15: Prime Minister Gaston Browne said arrests in the Nigel Christian’s murder probe could be made soon.

On Monday, Browne told Observer Media that “significant progress would have been made and I’m sure that within a matter of maybe a week, a few weeks that arrests will be made.”

He said, “those individuals so concerned who are involved in the heinous act will obviously be brought to justice.”

Christian, a senior customs officer, was reportedly abducted by four men from his home in McKinnons around 5:30 pm on Friday, July 10, 2020.

He was later found on a dirt road at Thibous in the vicinity of New Winthorpes with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Since then several protests have been organized by people calling for justice in the case.

“I can reassure the people of Antigua and Barbuda that we have made available all resources to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Browne insisted.

The Prime Minister also dismissed accusations that there was a cover-up to protect politicians and well-connected people.

He insisted anyone who made these allegations were “being malicious.”

“At this time, I just don’t have the appetite for that type of engagement. This is a time when we require some level of unity, some level of constructive discourse to address the challenges of COVID,” he said.

“So, you know, I’ll just literally ignore those politically mischievous comments and to focus on the challenge at hand and that is the issue of COVID to bring COVID under control and to return our country to normalcy as soon as possible,” the Prime Minister added.

  1. Thanks for giving the criminals a heads up, PM! Some ah aryu nuh know how for mek the police do dem damn work in silence including dem UPP nearga.

    • Mmm had to be UPP RIGHT ! According to your name i thought the only thing that could come out of your mouth was the sound 🤐 Mmm Mmm but you gather enough strength to MUSTER the words UPP CONGRATULATIONS !

      • You see me criticize the PM and your dirty ass talking about finding strength for UPP?!!! You hab strength to zero in on the UPP part. I think all decent Antiguans want this heinous crime solved but the UPP kept pressuring police- bring in this, bring in that to help. Even when they said international investigators came in, the UPP kept harping on the same old things. So now to appease them, people are talking when they shouldn’t.

  2. This whole thing just doesn’t sounds right, this sounds like they have these guys somewhere tied up already for some time now and its just to go bring them to the public

  3. Mmm had to be UPP RIGHT ! According to your name i thought the only thing that could come out of your mouth was the sound 🤐 Mmm Mmm but you gather enough strength to MUSTER the words UPP CONGRATULATIONS !

  4. It better happen. Have you noticed how restless the people are getting about this case. The murderers need to be arrested, lock up, and put on trial. If found guilty in a court of law, common sense says they will need to be executed.

  5. Wait the murderers don’t have radio and internet? or is that the idea? Give them a heads up so they can abscond. if this is not a tip off I don’t know what is…

    • Well a few weeks have passed. And no arrest has been announced. So, you could be onto something there. Maybe inadvertently, speaking too soon.

I hope not. This one needs to not be left unsolved. Too professional, too barbaric, atrocious.

  6. Didn’t he say this just a few weeks ago? Will we hear the same thing a few weeks from now? And why is he the one saying it? Has he filled the commisioner’s post with himself? What a country.

  7. One time the critics say they want to know, and when you tell them they say you talk too much. You can’t win. Damn if you do damn if you don’t. But I really don’t like for the PM to release confidential information to the public, just because he want to be as tansparent as possible.
The opposition will say what they want to say anyway.

  8. So unprofessional for this pm to keep coming out saying this, let the police do their job and keep your mouth quiet until it happens, he just cannot help himself

  9. Why not let the Police do their jobs without politicians revealing things to the public? This PM is very obnoxious, loud and boastful. He has made so many announcements with many NOT coming to fruition? Is he acting this way because he thinks the opposition parties are weak or has he attained a certain level in life so he can act the way he acts?

  10. Traitor and dictator Gaston has no business meddling in an official police investigation. Seems like he’s doing his best to throw off the scent. Why would a PM pay money to assist with any murder investigation!!!!!!!!!!

    Something stinking here.
