Prime Minister Gaston Browne has said that tomorrow (Wednesday) may be the last cabinet before the election, fueling speculation of a snap poll.

He was responding to a staff member of the Antigua State College who asked him to take transportation issues to the next meeting of the Cabinet.

But laughing, Browne said Wednesday’s meeting “maybe for the final time” before the elections, which polls have his Labour Party government winning.

In a more serious tone, the country’s leader said he cannot guarantee the matter will be taken to the next cabinet because “you know the elections coming like a thief in the night right.”

“Just in case elections come this weekend then you’ll have to give us a few more weeks,” he said.

He spoke ahead of an event on February 24 to kick off the ABLP campaign.

Opposition parties say they are ready for a general election as soon March 2018.

Elections are not due till 2019 but Prime Minister Gaston Browne has been hinting at an early poll.

A recent CADRES poll has Browne as the most popular leader of a political party and his ABLP comfortably retaining the seat of power.

  1. Labour full shit what has gaston brown do for the poor people of this country……..suffer suffer that all fixing few kiss ass road patch them that it he is worst government in history

  2. Mr. Browne, just chill. We have lots more to do. The Port Project needs to be in full swing. At least some hotels needs to be close to completion. Barbuda people need to have purchase their first lots. There is no rush for early elections. We need to focus on getting the job done. Lester was wrong to call elections before he opened the MSJMC. Had he done that afterwards he would not have lost the election. 2018 is promising to be a bumper economic year, lets reap that in before we have elections. When we will boast unemployment of 5% or less.

      • You are just a squatter. So shut up. You have no more rights to lands leased in Barbuda by slave owner Codrington than ex- slaves of the said slave owner have over lands leased by him here in Antigua. As a matter if fact its time you begin to pay all the retroactive land taxes you’ve failed to pay as we have had to pay. Your days of unjust entitlement are over. The fight for justice for all descendants held in captivity by the likes of Coddington is just beginning to get hot. Antiguans will demand our just due in due course.

      • It is easy to fool a public, but hard to convince them they have been fooled. Unless you get all the old heads out of parlimebt and vote in all new,the cycle will continue.

  3. alp can’t win this next election it is impossible or the people will suffer. …all saints west we waiting patiently this clown fish is a waste of dudu

  4. I live in All Saints West and could never vote for UPP even though Browne was not the best representative I will vote for him again. UPP nar ready and Lovell can never be my Prime Minister. I have listened to him and he makes no sense. Unfortunately Davenport, its Labour all the way on election day. UPP got my vote twice. Never again.

  5. This man name Gaston Brown just full of shit.
If people allow this man to fool them again ,then I can honestley say streigh to he’ll in a hand basket Antigua going..
Look at the cost of fuel
The price to take out a barell from the port
    Electricity/water bills
    Food price at the supermarket
    Small business and tax
    Poor roads
    And the list can continue.

    • You sound absolutely foolish- I keep saying you people are delusional. Nothing that you have listed in your comment is any higher in cost than when the UPP was in office, in fact some have been reduced.. And please please desist from complaining about Roads because we are still looking for the 1billion $$ roads.. Please bring your proof of the increases if you cannot, then shut to hell up and prepare to take the lashes that the UNITED PIPELINE PARTY will surely be getting..

      • You sound like an angry bitter fellow. I will pray for you. Why are you so angry. The party that you support is in power. Perhaps the anger is really insecurity. Like your boss the bully. SMH

      • Conveniently misplaced. This is direct response from “miss Antigug” and was placed directly following her nonsensical list of woes.

  6. to a my vote. ….thanks for seeing what every one sees that the fish is not ready and was not the best representitive but u prepared the vote for her again or lets say you voting for alp it dont matter if they put a dog there u will still vote tired of hearing stuff like that ….we cannot keep voting for waste of people that has nothing to offer the country this man is on a plane every day going to school i thing being a minister is to serve the people and get what they voted you in office for……

    • @Davenport yes the minister needs to serve the people but alas Mr. Codington did not serve us either. For me I am looking at the bigger picture. Which government I feel will serve the country best as opposed to which representative will serve ME best in MY constituency. In my opinion for right now that is the labour party. I am a swing voter. I vote for whom I feel will serve best at the time. UPP not ready yet they had 10 years and did nothing in my opinion. I voted for them twice and then voted them out. Now they in opposition they talking about all kinds of things that they want to see the Labour party do in 3.5 years that they could not do in 10 years. I don’t think this government would have been able to solve all the problems they met when they came in, in 3.5 years just like I did not expect UPP to solve all the problems in 2004 in 5 years so I gave them another 5 years. They made things worst with the last 5 years they got. so sorry, for now its Labour for me. I really do believe Antigua will thrive under Gaston Browne. Yes there are things about him I dislike, there are things he says I dislike but if I look at the whole picture I think he is doing a good job, he is a forward thinker and a Leader. For now I believe that is what Antigua needs. So even if Micheal Browne is not a great representative, I will vote for him again. Just my opinion and thoughts. Don’t know if others will agree with my logic.

Show some respect for yourself. Maybe then you’ll be able to understand that we march to our own cultural drum and not behind the mas band of loudmouth, “doortish rasses” like yourself.
