PM Says Leaders Reach Consensus On Way Forward For LIAT

Following a recent shareholders meeting, Prime minister Gaston Browne is quoted as saying that consensus has been reached on LIAT.

“We have a general consensus on the way forward,” Browne reportedly said.

He said that consensis “will result in the recapitalization of LIAT as well as the restructuring of LIAT to place it on a path of sustainability.”

However, Browne said, “I’m not in a position to give the details at this point, but to say that the issues that we’ve had, there has been some convergence and there’s now a consensus and a way forward.”

In November, the GOAB secured a loan from Venezuelan Bank, BANCO ALBA, for US $15.8 million as it expected to use most of the acquired financing to become the largest shareholder of the regional carrier.

  1. There’s nothing here. Absolutely nothing. Every year there’s some big meeting about Liat and the way forward but we never seem to move anywhere but backwards. All this time they are taking tax payers people money and injecting it into a failing company. We’ve wasted so much money on LIAT we could have started our own airline.

  2. LET US THINK POSITIVE . OUR PRIME MINISTER IS ON A POSITIVE TRAIT.LET US WAIT AND SEE. I BELIEVE THERE IS A MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT TO BE DISCLOSED. HON. GASTON BROWNE MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA IS ON THE MOVE IN BIG BIG WAY.

  3. What a BIG BIG DISGRACE listening to Knight and Damani Tabor this evening December 12 2019.
Who will really vote for Damani Tabor and the UPP. Too many positive things happening under the Gaston Browne Administration that Damani Tabor agree and Knight disagree with all the investments happening in Antigua. It is a SHAME to listen to Damani and Knight.
