PM Outlines Eco-Tourism Cabins Planned for Christian Valley
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has unveiled government plans to build a new eco-tourism project in Christian Valley, featuring solar-powered cottages and an eco-lodge designed to preserve the area’s natural landscape.
Speaking on the Browne and Browne Show, Browne said the government intends to develop “an agro-industrial park as well as an eco-park with an eco-lodge,” identifying Christian Valley as the preferred site. “We believe that the best place to put this eco-park and eco-lodge would be at Christian Valley,” he said.
Browne described Christian Valley as one of the country’s most scenic green spaces. “For those who have not been to Christian Valley, you all need to visit that area. What a beautiful area of greenery,” he said.
The project includes small, low-impact cabins built to operate off-grid. Browne said the plan is to “cut out some small little footprint… small little cottages… cottages powered by solar power… self-sustainable in terms of water and electricity.”
He added that multiple cabins would form part of the eco-lodge accommodation. “If you end up with about, let’s say, 30, 40 of them… you’re good to go. That gives you about 80 rooms,” he said.
The prime minister also confirmed that residents will be able to invest in individual cottage units within the project. “We’re going to create a project in which they can invest… leave your name, your contact number, and we’ll get on to you,” he said.
Browne said the eco-park will include a pool, restaurant, and supporting amenities, ensuring tourism development without harming the valley’s natural vegetation. “We don’t want to damage or to remove too much of the vegetation,” he said.
The government did not indicate when construction would begin, but Browne said concept development is underway and officials are working with land-use planners to advance the project.
