Prime Minister Gaston Browne is optimistic about acquiring a plane he inspected in China during his recent visit, envisioning its addition to the LIAT 2020 fleet.

With 70 seats and a $30 million price tag well within reach, Browne sees these planes as a key element in LIAT 2020’s future plans, offering extended reach and increased capacity.

Stressing their significance, he suggests that these aircraft could play a crucial role in establishing LIAT 2020 Limited.

Browne also highlights their potential importance for entering the US market, expressing satisfaction with the contact made.

  1. More debt piling on with China, what will happen when Antigua does not meet its repayment terms, for this and other investments?

  2. So now we know why all the MOUs with China.
It is in exchange for a plane to bolster up an airline that is going no where. This man really look at us as fools.

  3. Gaston, the man with a plan. While Pringle talking about pie in the sky, officials are out selecting the airplane to purchase. Recall in the very budget, 30 million was allocated to liat 2020

“In 2024, the government will spend about $30 million to ensure LIAT 2020 Ltd has all the aircraft needed and appropriate maintenance and operational arrangements are in place for the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of service to the people of the region.”

    • @ Tenman are you paying taxes? Because I realize that most of the minions that agree with the nonsense the government does, do not contribute to the country. Just to educate you Gaston Clown 🤡 isn’t buying or paying for the aircraft, it’s the tax payers that cover all cost.
      Living high on taxes.

  4. Well tenman… you obviously know very little about the aviation industry. Btw what exactly is your area of expertise? You seem to major in just about everything! I can’t recall you ever indicating that you have little to no knowledge or experience in any subject matter whatsoever, especially when what is being presented is coming from the top Dawg! Looks like you are an official choir boy since you never stop singing!!!!

  5. It’s amazing that people cannot see past their noses. All we think about is debt. It takes money to make money. If this deal is realized, many of you who have passports will eventually be sitting on these aircrafts reach other destinations.

The PM is obviously working in the best interest Antigua and Barbuda and interconnectivity of the ports of entry in our Caribbean. What’s the alternative? Sit down and twiddle his thumbs?

The one thing that I admire about him is his tenacity to forge ahead with projects that his administration believes will benefit our country. The setbacks will come but we dust ourselves off and move ahead.

    • You Dave Ray If Gaston was in America where you live he might have been wearing the same Jump suit like Alan Stanford. What’s your contribution to Antigua but just spew Rubbish on Here on behalf of Hitler.Thank God if you were here your medication and Rent would not be free whereby you would understand what life is all about in Antigua.

  6. I for one have no plans of Flying on any aircraft Gaston is involved in..If you have plans with Airpeace, Then all of a sudden is Plans with Caribbean Governments and Air Peace, Now you trying to Buy Plane from the Chinese.Which plan is True. I smell a dead Rat And Liat 1974 is in its grave and 2020 will never Be Born..Stop taking us for fools. Only your Minions will believe you.

  7. Continue to do great things for the country. Folks behind their phones typing; do nothing, but criticize. When we going to realize and understand that this world that we live in is a competitive space, thus we must go with the time, or else we will stay behind. For this country to continue to develop, new jobs and more jobs have to be created for our people, easy access to the highest education plus the best quality of health. This is not easy to achieve consistently but it has to be done. For leaders now and those to come.

    • @indepen.. it’s best to ignore the verbal diarrhea. One thing about Gaston is he is not doing all of this for.likes but love of nation. Makes one proud to be part of his team.

  8. Dear prime minister Gaston clown…. Pay your people their severance if you have a dignity in your soul… you want to float Liat 2020 on their backs and to hell with them and their families.. then you wanna buy Chinese plane to put Regional nationals in to fly? Good luck getting into the US Ports with that junk… everyday will be an inspection check up the aircraft backside wasting time and dollars…. You go ahead… enjoy your weight while you have it… nothing last forever!

    • GIJOE, let us not forget that American built planes fall from the skies killing hundreds and and doors burst open at 30000 feet….just saying

  9. Gaston is making things up as he governs the country.

Those Antiguans with sense, realise this is governance on the hoof, in the hope that one of his hair-raising schemes might work.

The intriguing thing is Gaston is so deep in these hair-brained ideas, that he’s lost all sense of sensibilities, and he acts like a gambler at the last chance saloon betting all on red (China) with further loses to the country (as if Antigua can afford to lose anymore).

Gaston Browne, a man of our time, yep … A WASTE OF TIME!

Come on ABLP acolytes, you must admit that Brixtonian’s vibrant wordplay is top notch 😉

  10. Gaston is like the hustlers and hucksters in Time Square playing three card monte. What does Gaston know about planes? Remember the power plants from China?

Yes Tenman! the MWU crumb snatching spokesperson! We know it was the UPP.

Independent Thinker (it) Try another moniker to hide behind, for you anything but an independent thinker. In your way of thinking even a bad deal is good.

Dr. Ray there isn’t much to say other than you are hopeless. That Consulate job you went after coming more and more elusive.

    • Lol, You’re funny. Why are you so angry? You didn’t get what you wanted from someone? I’m good, my friend. My life is good.

  11. I would not old my breath .
One previous ANR (?) story with info from somebody from Air Peace noted that ECCAA is only equipped to certify an Air Operators license for certain aircraft . Mainly the types of aircraft that LIAT(1974) had flow in the past . Islanders ,Twin Otters ,Dash8’s and ATRs .
And this info make sense .

    • It sounds like Gaston is interested in the Comac ARJ21. There’s about 100 of these jets flying, and orders for another 300. All of the current fleet are flying in China and there is no FAA certification, so probably not the best choice of aircraft if you want to land in the USA, can’t even fly into Puerto Rico

  12. This is just the beginning of the propaganda machine. You’re going to see much more of this and it’s not going to be headline news. It’s going to be buried and when there’s too many negative comments, the story will be erased. Does the guy on the street comprehend the dramatic shift to communism? Does the guy on the street want to be enslaved again? I think not!

  13. I notice with concern that there is no mention of the aircraft Brand or Model. A search on Goggle came up with the Xian Aircraft MA700 that looks just like an ATR. Canada is reluctant to allow the P&W 150C engine to be sold to China, the aircraft is in limbo. There are none in service.
