The best ways to tackle the rising cost of living is:
1) to de-couple the EC$ from the US Dollar which has just begun to hyper-inflate.
2) start growing your own food.
Hyper inflate how? As far as I know the EC dollar has been fixed to the US dollar since 1976.
The US Dollar is on the verge of hyper-inflating…. as it’s buying power goes down, so does ours since the C$ is fixed to it.
IMO hard assets will be the best hedge against inflation. Get Gold and Crypto currencies like bitcoin.

Decoupling the EC from the US$ would be a big mistake. It would not help the EC as it would plunge to mere cents to the US. Antigua imports almost every thing, mostly from the US so if the US$ plunged and the EC plunges with it, is Antigua worst off?
Anyway, doubt the other countries would agree to devalue the EC. Thank God we don’t have a currency like Guyana and Jamaica.

El Salvador officially adopted Bitcoin as legal tender on June 9, 2021, making it the first country to do so. Mexico, Paraguay, Argentina, Panama, Brazil, El Salvador, and Nicaragua are speculated to embrace #Bitcoin in 2022.
Cost of living is too high because everything is imported. Government should facilitate co-ops to important food in bulk to bring down unit cost. Reduce import tariffs at the port on food and essential items. Also, regulate the mark ups that supermarkets are allowed to charge (Antiguans travel and we have Amazon, we know what things really cost and plenty PRICE GOUGING is happening).
Gaston Browne can start by removing himself from the position of PM which he will continue to abuse so long as he holds it.
He has done nothing but filled his pockets with funds from taxes. All he does is think about himself.

In order to reduce cost of living there must be the will do do so. It’s not rocket science. Make deals with wholesalers and distributors and give incentives to lower prices. So much talk, so much chatter. It will take the will. to do it to get it done not all the fluffy stuff you here. If a man has plenty money, he has no motivation to make changes. The Island is small the controllers are few…JUST DO IT!
Now he wants to tackle the cost of living. Where was our prime minister all this time? Obviously, he doesn’t shop at the same supermarket we shop at. Maybe he shops every other month. And don’t mention, the consumer affairs, they r incompetent just like the govt.
