Browne Urges Respect for Diplomatic Protocol in Trinidad-Tobago Case
Lead: The Prime Minister welcomed clarification from Trinidad and Tobago’s Foreign Minister that no interference had occurred in a missing persons case, while reiterating that no evidence suggests the man went missing in Antigua.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has welcomed a statement from Trinidad and Tobago’s Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Sean Sobers, clarifying that no attempt was made to interfere in Antigua and Barbuda’s internal affairs regarding a missing persons case involving a Trinidadian national.

Speaking on his weekly radio programme, Browne said he appreciated the diplomatic clarification and affirmed that both countries share “strong, respectful and enduring ties.”

He emphasized that the Trinidadian government’s inquiries were appropriate and standard in international relations, describing Minister Sobers’ approach as “professional, prudent, and firm.”

Browne also reiterated that, based on available information, there is no definitive evidence that the man in question went missing while in Antigua and Barbuda.

“He has had a history of coming to the country by plane and leaving clandestinely by boat,” Browne said. He noted that the young man reportedly worked on an illegal marijuana farm while in Antigua, and that speculation should not substitute for evidence.

While expressing empathy for the family of the missing man, the Prime Minister defended Antigua and Barbuda’s reputation, rejecting what he described as “hysterical” media coverage and politically motivated narratives aimed at damaging the country’s image.

“Whereas we hope that the missing Trinidadian young man is safe, there is no evidence that he went missing in Antigua,” he said.

Browne also pointed out that the country has one of the lowest crime and homicide rates in the region and cautioned against attempts to manufacture a crisis.

He criticized what he described as a “scaling attack” against Antigua and Barbuda by some media outlets and opposition elements, adding that even long-resolved missing persons cases from decades ago were being compiled to create a false impression of widespread disappearances.

He concluded by reaffirming Antigua and Barbuda’s willingness to continue engaging with Trinidad and Tobago through diplomatic channels, emphasizing mutual cooperation and regional solidarity.

  1. You really suffer badly from MPD.
When speaking on your radio station egged on by the turn coats please be reminded that your reach is not just in Antigua.
While Antiguans do not listen to your radio program some curious listener may find his frequency stuck to your program one Saturday.
For those who had had that misfortune their ears must be demanding apology from them.
The idiotic minions to who you speak to in Antigua may enjoy your singing.
However intelligent people will frown on the level of your statesmanshsip.
There is life and intelligence outside of your circle.
The Trinidad and Tobago foreign affairs minister’s statement needed no clarification.
    It was clear and simple.
A third form student in your grand father’s secondary school would not have any difficulty dissecting the T& T Minister’s statement and your rubbish.
Don’t try to make the Trinidadian official look uneducated abd project yourself.
    Stop being a narcissist.
Your circle egging you on will not tell you that.
    I will.
    STOP BEING A NARCISSIST!!!!!!

  2. Yet another odious outcome of the Portuguese drug-shell, MJ, (Michael Jackson???).
As a proud descendant of my African homeland, I call on ALL sisters and brothers of homeland Africa to reject and eject this thing from our psyche. This thing boast of igniting the fire between Trinidad and Antigua over the disappearance of a suspected, fellow drug-shell from Antigua. This thing managed to create havoc for displaced West Africans merely seeking asylum and peaceful coexistence by invoking the ire of deracinated Antiguans leading to their ultimate deaths at sea just like our forefathers did before us, at the hands of Portuguese slave traders. FYI, the Portuguesev were the FIRST EUROPEAN COUNTRY TO CAPTURE AND SHIP AFRICANS FROM THE MOTHERLAND TO THE NEW WORLD (Brazil, Barbados.. ). Know this thing for what is is. A hateful drug shell prepared to use inadvertently ignorant black people for her own twisted ends. Avoid her at all costs.
