The Prime Minister reported that the sale of the Alfa Nero superyacht is drawing ever closer.

Reports from the Antigua and Barbuda Ambassador in Washington, USA, is that the US Treasury and the US State Department are collaborating to allow a new owner to take possession and be allowed to sail freely into US waters and elsewhere.

The proceeds from the sale will go towards paying the debts incurred, since the vessel sailed into Antigua’s harbours more than one year ago.

The overage will go into the Consolidated Fund operated by the Antigua and Barbuda Treasury.

  3. Really? The US is going to make an exception for Antigua? Who is doing the negotiations in the US? Ron Saunders?
    Sounds like water in 14 days; waived workers permit fee; raises for public workers (some od whom, as we speak, have not been paid for April); the extra paycheck last December as a prelude to back pay; YIDA’s 200 million annual injection into our economy: thirty-odd failed projects; the list is long.
    Furthermore, the US has pledged to use any proceeds from the sale of sanctioned items to rebuild Ukraine. So, they are going to listen to arguably the most corrupt, incompetent administration in the western hemisphere and Ron Saunders? I don’t know.
