Prime Minister Browne Confirms CIU’s Decision to Cease Transactions with Global Bank of Commerce
During a parliamentary session today, Prime Minister Gaston Browne addressed concerns raised by Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle regarding the Citizenship by Investment Unit’s (CIU) financial transactions with the Global Bank of Commerce.
Pringle questioned whether the CIU continued to accept payments for passports via the Global Bank despite the bank’s known financial difficulties in 2017.
In response, Prime Minister Browne confirmed that the CIU had indeed stopped depositing funds at the Global Bank after news of its financial troubles surfaced.
He emphasized that this decision was made to protect the interests of citizens and ensure responsible fund management related to the Citizenship by Investment Program.
“The CIU made the decision to stop depositing funds at the Global Bank after it became apparent that the bank was encountering financial difficulties,” stated Prime Minister Browne. “This was a necessary step to safeguard the funds and ensure that they are managed in a manner that is in the best interest of the citizens.”

So the money is not deposited into Global Bank anymore full stop. Where is this money now deposited Mr. PM? I don’t get politicians in Antigua and Barbuda using the public purse like it’s their personal Bank Account. Where is the accountability here?
It only took the Gaston Browne 6-and-a-half years to figure this out from Global Bank of Commerce (GBC) – after the missing $1 million donation that was allocated to Barbuda after hurricane Irma.
Pull the other one Prime Minister, not all Antiguans are gullible. Tarl!
BTW, what does GBC really stand for?
Gaston Browne Collects …
GLOBAL BANK AND CIP,AGAIN.REMEMBER,CEO OF THAT BANK BRIAN STUART-YOUNG IS NOT A CROOK.THOSE WERE THE WORDS OF GASTON BROWNE.IN MY OPINION,JOKE OF THE CENTURY.
See that is the problem with Gaston and his ABLP. None of the party members care where their money is now??? And, do we have to take Gaston to court to find out where our money is taken? What is so hard about coming clean first time.
