PM Browne Mocks Opposition’s Planned ‘Freedom March’ as Politically Weak

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has dismissed an upcoming opposition-led demonstration, describing it as a desperate attempt by a politically weakened movement.

Speaking on the Browne and Browne Show, Browne ridiculed the event, organized by opposition figures, suggesting it lacked genuine public support.

“This so-called ‘Freedom March’ is nothing more than an act of desperation by a failing opposition,” he said. “When a major political party has to rely on a lone activist to organize a march, it tells you how weak and irrelevant they have become.”

Browne claimed that the United Progressive Party (UPP) was struggling to maintain its political relevance, pointing to what he described as declining turnout at opposition events. He contrasted this with his party’s stability, stating, “We have a strong and united team, while they are in disarray.”

The Prime Minister also suggested that the march was an attempt to mask internal divisions within the opposition. “They are fighting among themselves for leadership, and now they are trying to manufacture public outrage to stay politically afloat,” he added.

The Freedom March is reportedly being spearheaded by activist figures outside of the main opposition leadership. However, Browne argued that the UPP’s reliance on external organizers underscored its lack of grassroots support.

While the opposition has yet to respond to the Prime Minister’s remarks, organizers of the march maintain that it is a legitimate call for greater government accountability.

  1. Will this march attract ‘huge’ numbers? I don’t think so. Antiguans are a ‘queer’ people.

One thing I know for sure, once I have life, I will be voting against this labour party government and I will encouraging as many as I can to be like me and vote against this wicked regime.

  2. Browne can mock the opposition as much as he wants, but he’s really mocking hardworking Antiguans who can ill afford his 40% licensing fee increases and the ever growing cost of living price food gouging.

Browne continually hides behind ridiculing the UPP marches, when he has no idea how to run the economy fairly.

Antiguans can witness with their OWN eyes and EMPTY pockets that disposable income is a myth and wonder what the hell is the ABLP really doing with our tax-paying dollar.

Antigua & Barbuda now need some sort of investigation into how our tax dollar is being used (just like the USA’S DOGE to reduce and scrutinise wasteful government spending).

Sadly, Antiguans do not want to recognise that we have an out and out FLAPDOODLE in charge of the country who is so full of empty and meaningless talk.

Remember fellow Tiguans, Gaston Browne’s verbal diatribes doesn’t put food in our cupboards or disposable income in our pockets.

  3. Your march is weak, we pay Pringle to manage the opposition well, some a you all doing like Richard Lewis and fighting outside of Pringle permission but it won’t succeed, a this a wah Gaston a try tell are you.

  4. Am I dreaming? A march and the UPP as Opposition party not leading it. The party is supposed to be leading from the front and and asking civil society to join them in protest against the Gaston administration. The ABLP in opposition never acted so CHUPIT. UPP please come to your senses and act like a REAL OPPOSITION.

  5. This only proves that he is a Totalitarian Leader. Everybody is fearful of him; those who support him and those who don’t and the way he’s carrying on is like he has achieved something and indeed, he has.
