  1. These monetary get-together’s are always dressed up as so important, but are they really? Nothing concrete seems to happen or benefit Antigua or the Caribbean region as a whole. Tarl!

Are these just glorified talking shops?

And look dey again, Gaston ah dance abroad again …

DOESN’T HE LIKE SOLVING PROBLEMS AT HOME?

Clearly, no one can function properly as a critic, journalist, scientist or humanist if he or she does not adequately locate the data and resultant information in time and space! Don’t get it twisted, Gray was not condoning or promoting the ignorance of his contemporaries, betters, peers or “deplorables” but is reflecting with fond memories on a time when everyone in their youth was allowed to be ignorant! Seems like some wiseacres haven’t got past youthful exuberance!

Why, in this the International Decade for People of African Descent 2015- 2024, do some people of African descent, with no misgivings and with great pride, revel in the role of agent provocateurs! Is this a lucrative role! Is this a function as small island racketeer! Is this narrow-mindedness and lack of ambition symptomatic of their incapacity to fulfill their historic role as builders of solid Indigenous Businesses and a Caribbean Civilization! Why is the dynamic, pioneering aspect, the inventive, and entrepreneurial spirit and acumen common to progressive national builders lamentably absent!

  2. Wonder if any kind ablp person could give the PM a tie so he could dress appropriately, as the occasion dictates, when representing us.

    • The PM wears a tie for white and foreign people & photo abroad from the region. He could get a Caribbean shirt jack but that looks too clean and straight. Among his Caribbean colleagues he takes the role of gangsta!

First Congrats to the “Doc.” even though this should have been executed during the UPP Governments’ years in Office! That it took this long for the ABLP to put their stamp of approval on it must be acknowledged and the PM will be given his commendations! Fortunately, The Good Doc is very capable and willing to engage in mentoring, coaching and succession planning! “But let us be clear: what matters is to stop talking about output, and intensification, and the rhythm of work.” – Frantz Fanon, The Wretched of the Earth!

Every youth of African Descent in Antigua should be taught about the “Doc” his humility, journey, academic, intellectual and business accomplishments! JFII is eternally indebted to the Good “Doc” for his wisdom, guidance, teaching, learning, business and development opportunities he has provided in the Americas and the Caribbean!

For decades, this mere voice in the wilderness has been singing the “Doc’s” praises and urging that: he should be appointed to that position at the Eastern Caribbean Securities Regulatory Commission ECSRC; that GoAB purchase the Stanford International Bank Building at VCBIA and get relocation of the ECSRC and A&B’s CIP offices there (sadly after sitting idle “for donkey years” the Syrians purchased the facilities at peppercorn prices, and The People of African Descent, as can be seen throughout the Caribbean, were again locked out of Industry and Business Capital formation); that GoAB enter into a Public Private Partnership (P3) to develop a Factory Outlet Mall complete with a Hotel at Coolidge; that LIAT be transformed as NECA and refocused towards the OECS and North with VCBIA being its only HUB until it was made financially sound, and, that Coolidge be developed as another City using a P3 Business model and engaging the Best Caribbean Urban Planners, Designers and Developers! As Fanon has stated: “Yet it is very true that we need a model, and that we want blueprints and examples!” Embrace The “Doc.” and Seize The Time before “Time driveth onward fast, And in a little while our lips are dumb. “Come, then, comrades; it would be as well to decide at once to change our ways. We must shake off the heavy darkness in which we were plunged, and leave it behind. The new day which is already at hand must find us firm, prudent and resolute. We must leave our dreams and abandon our old beliefs and friendships of the time before life began. Let us waste no time in sterile litanies and nauseating mimicry.” Fanon!
