PM Browne gets assurance from PM Mottley that Barbados will collaborate with Antigua and Barbuda to support the air bridge between Africa and Caribbean

CABINET NOTES:

Prime Minister Browne reported that he held discussions with the Prime Minister of Barbados who assured him that Barbados will collaborate with Antigua and Barbuda to support the air bridge between Africa and the Caribbean.

Antigua and Barbuda has been vigorously pursuing this objective for more than one year.

The Development Commissioner, the Solicitor General, and a member of the LIAT 2020 board, brought to Cabinet an agreement with Air Peace which the Prime Minister signed.

Air Peace will become the funding source for LIAT (2020) and owns 70% of the shares, while 30% will go towards Antigua and Barbuda at this time.

A team from Antigua and Barbuda has left for Barbados to commence consultations on making a LIAT (2020) viable.

The Cabinet was informed that support is also likely forthcoming from Dominica and St. Vincent.

Arrangements are currently being put in place to ensure that the lone aircraft which has formed the backbone of the LIAT operation these past weeks, has reached its maximum maintenance scheduling deadline.

Until such time as the maintenance is complete, the service offered by LIAT is suspended.

  1. Mr. PM do not trust them. These are the same people that wanted to liquidate LIAT without giving you prior notice. And thanks to your swift action LIAT remained flying, even if it was on a very small scale.

  2. Queen Mia receives the emissaries of Sir Gaston courteously, advising them that Barbados is the central financial force in the region.

  3. The Honourable Mia Mottley, the type of leader that Antigua is crying out for regarding transparency, accountability and open governance.

UPP, are you watching and shadowing this great great women?

Shuggy, you have amazing potential and can pick-up the mantel for Antiguans in 2028.

THE FUTURE LOOKS GREAT … I SING, AND DANCE WITH JOY AND GLEE FOR OUR CHILDREN.

    • Brix I know you hate our PM so much so that you would praise a PM that has taken her country to the IMF now for nine years and cannot come out as yet. The first thing the IMF had her do is to fire 1800 public servants. Raise taxes every year and now have a major overhaul of their tax system having businesses pay higher taxes. Can you imagine what you would say if Gaston Browne did such a thing. I know your hatred will not let you ever acknowlegde that despite the hardship that Covid borught we did not go to the IMF and we are still the fastest growing economy in the region and second to Guyana for a second year now. And that forecast of IMF and WorldBank and ECLAC predict the same for next year. And that when we have not found any black gold. Sticktly attraction of foreign investments into the country and growing our tourism product both air and sea.

      • I don’t hate Gaston Browne you damn fool. I supported him in 2014 when he was first elected; and even spoke to him about investing my hard earned money in Antigua instead of elsewhere.

But I was fortunate enough to recognise early in his Premiership that he wasn’t playing with a straight bat and was a duplicitous and mendacious individual (despite me losing a substantial amount of money when he halted me from returning to my home, family and friends during lockdown Sidey); and then ensuring that autochthonous Antiguans like me weren’t given the same priorities as outsiders.

Surely, you don’t believe in prioritising business migrants (who do not live permanently here) over Antiguans?

I know of two Americans and two Britons (without Antiguan passports may I add!) who were allowed to continue conducting their own businesses during Covid-19 lockdownsl, because they took the Covid-19 jabs.

I don’t hate Gaston Browne you damn idiot, because I do not know him personally, but what I’ve always wanted, is a Prime Minister that would lead the country properly and look-out for the INDIGENOUS hardworking businessman or woman over foreigners.

        CLEAR ENOUGH???

  4. This is what happen when you lie so much, is that when you speak, no one believe you.
This man is compromise and a dead duck, not a lame duck, but a dead one.

  5. Note how he caught Mia to agree to support him. Air Peace will fly to Antigua and then to Barbados. So Mia will get a piece of the pie. But the first Caribbean stop will be Antigua. Just like BA first flies to Antigua and then leaves here and goes to Barbados and then does the same on their return.
Call that smart or not. A real Gaston trick.

    • When does BA fly to Antigua and then Barbados? Barbados is BA and Virgin’s most important and lucrative destination in the southern and eastern Caribbean. Antigua is behind Saint Lucia in importance. Barbados is number ONE!

  6. Why is the Bajan leader going to collaborate with lil adolf moustache ? Did not he and his henchmen curse Mottley and the Bajan people over Liat? With $ 15 billion GDP Barbados does not need Antigua and Antigua has nothing Barbados needs. Bajan taxpayers should tell Browne to F -off!
