Prime Minister Gaston Browne has extended condolences to the families of two teenagers killed in a shooting in Villa, saying he stands in support of those grieving the loss.
“I want to take this opportunity to extend condolences to the family members, all of whom I know… during this very difficult time, that as a representative, I’m standing with them,” Browne told ABS.

Browne, who is also the parliamentary representative for the area, appealed to the public to assist law enforcement by providing information on individuals involved in illegal firearms activity.
He said the government is taking steps to curb the flow of guns and ammunition into the country, including the use of sniffer dogs and increased spot checks at ports and courier services.
The Prime Minister also pointed to unresolved conflicts as a contributing factor to recent killings and said efforts will be stepped up to promote conflict resolution through public education.
“We have had two individuals who were killed… as a result of unresolved conflicts,” he said, noting the need for greater awareness and intervention.
He added that approximately 200 additional security cameras are being installed across the country to serve as a deterrent and assist with crime detection.
Browne urged young people to avoid crime, saying there are opportunities for employment and skills training available, and warned of the consequences of violence.
“Crime and violence does not pay… it’s just one or two possible outcomes, either jail or the cemetery,” he said.
The appeal comes as police continue investigations into the fatal shooting of Brianna Clark and Omari Lewis, which has shaken the Villa community.

To many condolences, families don’t want that… they want justice and the citizens on Antigua want their government to have preventative measures in place to protect them. These kind of senseless crimes are happening too often and we don’t seem to have a plan to stop it. Why is the PM always reacting after the fact? We need proactive leaders in this country, the citizens need to be protected, our children need to be protected, our seniors need to be protected. Our government is doing nothing to
Mitigate these crimes, our AG is telling us that Antigua is a safe place. Is the government in denial or they just don’t care? Is crime in our country not a priority? How many more persons have to be killed before something sustainable be done to stop these heinous crimes? I plea to our government to do some in a proactive significant way and crack down on these criminals once and for all.
Its also alleged that, he, the same boy, kill the girl then kill himself and he not to long came home from jail for the crime that killed the young man from the robbery, he was a part of the crime, ALLEGEDLY.
Mr brown .. “the big question of the day” who’s bringing in the guns .. why are we not hearing about those kind of bust ? … preople get caught with Gun and silencer and get there sentence reduced…. “Total madness” that’s a serious offense and you would get many years in prison somewhere else, a silences expresses a more sinister mind not just for selfdefense…I don’t think you understand, this is a real concern for most Antiguans , Antigua is getting to be really dangerous and we can’t even solve crimes … too many special treatments and conflict of interest .. what are you doing about this ? A young girl before got murdered by some guys and still no arrest… but some how we solved the one with the person that is not from this country, I don’t want more promises, I want action… And I will vote that …

@? Ask your PM and his Son. Ask him why he allegedly keeps smuggling guns from Florida and Santo Domingo. Ask him why he keeps selling illegal guns to people on the street of Antigua. Also check the Jamaicans as they have a whole syndicate. What is he/them preparing for? The FBI is coming and questions will need answers.
