PM Browne Dismisses Opposition Leader’s Call for Resignation Over Alfa Nero Case

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has rejected calls for his resignation over the ongoing Alfa Nero legal battle in the United States, describing the demands as “laughable.”

Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle had earlier called for Browne to step down pending the outcome of proceedings in the US Federal Court. Pringle argued that it would be in the country’s best interest for the prime minister to temporarily vacate office while the case concludes.

Responding to the call, Browne accused the United Progressive Party (UPP) leadership of conspiring with “foreign mercenaries” to fabricate allegations surrounding the 2022 seizure and 2024 sale of the luxury yacht Alfa Nero.

“This is laughable,” Browne said. “These UPP morons are so delusional that they are now believing the illusion of their Alfa Nero fabrication. Soon the UPP hierarchy will be selling their sycophantic supporters flying pigs.”

The legal dispute centres on claims by Russian national Yulia Guryeva-Motlokhov, who alleges that the Antiguan government mishandled the sale of the vessel. A recent US court decision lifted a temporary stay on subpoenas, allowing for the release of financial records connected to Browne, members of his family, the West Indies Oil Company Ltd. (WIOC), and several Antigua-based individuals and businesses.

Despite the ongoing court proceedings, Browne has maintained that the accusations are politically motivated and without merit.

  1. Pringle due to his political inexperience and anonymity on the world stage may not cut it, he need to engage lawyers and church organization and business people in a meeting to call on Gaston brown to resign or step down.

  2. Gaston made Asot resign when he was allegedly accused of a scandal so why the hypocrisy and double standards?? He should step down until all the allegations are cleared or not

  3. The PM keeps accusing the opposition of collusion but has yet to offer any proof of such. How could people that the PM constantly calls stupid influence an American court to look into his finances?

  4. It’s always the millionaires and billionaires first. The worst road in Antigua for decades is the All Saints Road, from by courts to Nelson Dockyard. Not a straw should be touched anywhere else before this road is addressed.

  5. Ah just so they looking for an easy slide in! Hahahaha! Lazy “leader” of loafers. Now you understand that you have no more tricks worthy of even a passing glance, it MUST be the Alpha Nero! God knows there is nothing. So, yes take the lead from the derelict on the other side of the border. Utilize your scarce resources to hire some second-rate lawyer to no end. This PM is a blessed man and will NEVER bow to the beasts of Satan. The saga of the Alpha Nero will expose the treachery and hypocrisy of the UPP and its power-at-any cost cast of loafers.
