PM: Antigua and its neighbours closer to establishing travel bubble

Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries are closer to establishing a travel bubble within the region, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced.

Browne said the travel bubble could be implemented within the next 14 days.

Over the weekend the Prime Minister said CARICOM Heads held discussions on Friday on the implementation of the travel bubble, which will allow CARICOM citizens to travel within the region under special conditions.

One condition is that residents of those countries can travel without a COVID test.

“The travel bubble will start with the countries that have a low level of COVID prevalence, and low is defined as no more than 20 COVID cases per 100,000 population within the last 14 days,” Browne explained.

“Those countries that fall within that category, to include the OECS and Barbados, they could establish a travel bubble between them in which no testing would be required.”

Countries like Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana, which have high numbers of COVID-19 cases, would need to reduce their numbers to participate in the travel bubble.

“As other countries reduce their moderate level of COVID down to a low level, they will join the travel bubble,” Browne said.

“If, too, any of the countries within the region end up with a medium to high level risk profile, then clearly they will find themselves temporarily out of the bubble until such time as they could reduce the level of COVID.”

  1. I have to laugh at this guy, every week he goes on his radio station saying Antiguan and Barbuda is covid free, we have no new cases. The question I would love this top dawg to answer, how many of your citizens have you tested.? Antigua and Barbuda numbers are low because your dumb ass administration decided not to test nation wide. Your administration saw an opportunity to exploit the citizens who now have to pay three hundred dollars for a covid 19 test anytime doing a procedure at MSJMC, while visitors get the test for free. I was asked the other day by a friend if I believed the cabinet members did the covid 19 test, my response was hell YES just look how them a isolate themselves from the people while saying we have no covid 19. I also said isolation is a good thing the top dawg and his poodles in the Labour Party should stay in isolation forever. The only travel bubble we should have is one that every traveler should be tested on entering our country. “Leadership really matters.” Oh I have a question for any physician can craziness pass on through generations? Just asking!

    • Why do you concern yourself with Antigua and its citizens?? You already bragged that you have a U.S. passport and that an Antigua and Barbuda passport is of no value to you.

Go back in your corner and shoosh.
