Pharmaceutical Council will soon be able to acquire medicines from countries other than U.S, U.K, and Canada

CABINET NOTES: The Cabinet agreed that the legal authority of the Pharmaceutical Council will have to be expanded to allow for medicines from jurisdictions, other than the three that are now relied upon, to be accepted for lawful use in Antigua and Barbuda.

The Drug Approval Agencies of the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada are relied upon exclusively; but, other jurisdictions are also becoming exporters of pharmaceuticals and other systems for curing diseases.

(Stem cell treatments and other medicines coming out of China, India and elsewhere are anticipated).

By policy, therefore, the Cabinet has decided that the Pharmaceutical Council can give its approval for other drugs created in other jurisdictions other than the traditional three.

  1. QUESTION: Why do drugs ( Pharmaceuticals) make it to the drug stores in Antigua when they are classified as experimental and NOT approved by the FDA?

There are instances here where patients are prescribed medication that are experimental and not approved by the FDA. These drugs have had serious negative effect on at least ONE known patient who died just a few months after taking the experimental, NON-FDA approved drug.

Does the pharmaceutical council approve these experimental drugs ?

The1 council needs to speak up.

  2. Good! No more sending of out of date – or near date – drugs sent by the UK 🇬🇧, Canada 🇨🇦 or the US; and furthermore the FDA needs to do a lot more due diligence on what type of pharmaceutical drugs are being sent to not only here in Antigua, but also the Caribbean region as well.

A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!

  3. @Brix. I would have to disagree with you here. Even though I’m not a drug enthusiast ( I take no drugs whatsoever, not even the common flu drugs) we must admit that this move was directly influenced by the MOU’s that were sighed by the Chinese with the Gatson Browne administration.

And that is what I’m more concerned about..another flawed world power that’s directing and influencing the way of life in Antigua, not for the better, but to further enslave with their subjective and corrupt policies..that’s what you missed here.

But anyway, life continues in Antigua without any real transparency as to the true reason for this sudden move.
