Peetron Thomas Declares Justice for Mr. Scottie After Police Brutality Caught on Video

St. John’s, Antigua – Outrage has erupted following the release of a disturbing video showing 82-year-old Mr. Scottie allegedly being mistreated by a police officer. Humanitarian singer and author Peetron Thomas has publicly condemned the incident, calling for justice and accountability for law enforcers who abuse their power.

In a passionate statement, Thomas expressed deep frustration over the situation, describing it as a new level of hurt and injustice.

“An elderly man, 82 years old, treated in such a manner for what? Not for major crimes, not for the serious wrongs happening in this country, but for something far less. And yet, the aggression was directed at him,” Thomas said.

Criticizing the actions of the officer involved, Thomas questioned how law enforcers could act with such cruelty, especially when serious crimes continue to plague the nation. He stressed that mere transfers are not enough and called for real penalties against officers who abuse their authority.

“Something needs to be put in place beyond just transferring officers. A stop must be put to law enforcers who have turned into bullies,” Thomas declared.

While acknowledging that some officers uphold the law with honor and integrity, he emphasized the need for urgent reform to prevent further abuse.

“Anybody in their right mind can tell me that this elderly man was treated in the right manner? Nooooooooo wayyyyyyy! And that is not acceptable!” Thomas exclaimed.

Standing in full support of Mr. Scottie, Thomas made a powerful declaration:

“Evidently, the nation has seen this clip, AND I DECLARE JUSTICE FOR MR. SCOTTIE‼️

The viral footage has sparked a heated discussion this week thus far about police accountability, and many are now demanding action from authorities.

  1. If this video wasn’t caught on camera the police would man would have denied it.I can say there is a lot of bullies in the force and because they are police they think they can do anything and get away Anyone who is been harassed or bullied by an officer needs to go to the Police Headquarters and make a report by the professional standards department so that they can be held accountable. We are tired of these so called police bullies.

  2. Whole I agree that the police could have handled this arrest in a humane, less primitive/brutal manner, I will NOT elevate this old man to the status of hero. We revere the elderly for their wisdom and endow them with the responsibility of raising the next generation through example and good counsel. Neither of these expectations, however, was met by this victim of excessive police force, unfortunately. From the still sketchy reports, it would appear that the “victim” attracted police attention be first committing a traffic offense. He APPEARED belligerent in his verbal and body language and in his refusal to comply with the initial directives of the police. There is absolutely nothing worthy of emulation in this unfortunate situation.
On the other hand, the arresting officers clearly lack proper, professional training as evidenced by the manner in which this man was taken into custody and they should NOT escape sanction

  3. I join with Peetron Thomas in calling for justice for Mr. Steadman ‘Scottie’ Thomas.
I have known that gentleman for 49 years. I know him personally. A friendly, jovial, helpful person.
When I, as a news announcer on a prominent radio station, had to be at the studio at 5am to prepare for the days broadcast, Scottie was at my house at 4.30am six days a week. He was not being paid to do that but he did it out of the goodness of his heart. He was a kind and helpful man. He did not think that I, as a young woman should be walking, unaccompanied, at that hour of the day. I would forever be personally grateful for that.
He was the driver for the handicapped later on in his life, and to see him being treated in the manner shown in the video is appalling.
His vehicle carries a handicapped sticker, that sticker gives certain privileges.
Anybody who knows Scottie knows how jovial he is. But….as old people say ‘who don’t know you, call you, you, but who knows you call you by your name’.
I call on all, ALL the relevant authorities from the Police Commissioner to the Attorney General to not only look into the maltreatment meted out to Mr. Steadman ‘Scottie’ Scotland, but maltreatment meted out as a whole by the rank and file in our Police Force.
S.O S a nickname given to Mr. Scotland we are here by putting out an sos distress call in your name on behalf of our elders. An SOS to treat them with respect.
I will be following this up. I want to hear and see something done.
If it is that our Police Force needs more training in protocol or public service let us give them that. If it turns out that this attitude is chronic to certain members of the force and examples have to be made then let us do that. But for God’s sake let this not be continued.
I usually do not put my name out there but this is an exception to the rule.
Let us see justice. Justice must not be done behind closed doors but openly so that it is seen to be done.

  4. @ Faithful Nation #1: You are here trying to say an 8 decade old man is not a good role model because he committed a traffic offence….Really??? The man has seen 8 decades and probably should not be driving for much longer…..No excuse what so ever for the officer’s behavior….NONE!!!! If the man had suffered a heart attack and died the Police Force would say he should have not committed the traffic violation…..Old people are hard to deal with…What if one day when Commissioner Rodney is retired he does something out of character while in public?? What if he is dealt with in that manor by new officers who may not be aware of who he is?? Will it be said he is not a good role model or will he be seen as an elderly retired Police Commissioner who made a mistake??

  5. The police is a criminal and should be punish, fire him and I guarantee no one in there right mind will not treat another person that way again.

  6. Mr Police Man did not see the Senior Citizen as someone important.
Yes, he might be a citizen of the nation of Antigua and Barbuda, but not an ‘Important’ one. There was no need for the officer to summon his humor or use his intellect and knowledge of Antiguan/Caribbean culture to cajuole a typical senior citizen towards a favorable outcome. No! This Old Man needed to respect My Authority!! What an ass of a policeman.
Well, we all make mistakes and fall short of the glory of the White god.
To everyone on the side of the ‘Law and Order’ policeman…would you still support him of he he had publicly kicked around an elderly European Tourist, Syrian/Lebanese or God level Asian resident??!
    No you would not.
Your anger and dismay would know no bounds.
Your ‘leaders’ would be out in force…insisting that this type of behavior is not common or does not reflect the heart and minds of the island population. Because we who live in this island are not afraid to express our love for those we see as ‘IMPORTANT’ in our lives.
    (Stinking bunch of shameless hypocrites)
