The pastor and a member of the New Testament Church in Bolans were reportedly remanded to prison today.

According to reports, Pastor Uriah Taylor pleaded guilty to failure to comply with public health regulations banning gatherings in excess of 25 people.

Church member Alston Turner reportedly pleaded guilty to obstruction, resisting arrest and battery on police.

The charges stemmed from an incident at the church on Sunday when officers disrupted the morning service over violations to the country’s social distancing policy.

The defendants will reportedly be sentenced on Tuesday.

  1. At least he pleaded guilty. Now please suppress that yardie-esque behaviour. You are no longer in JAMAICA where lawlessness runs amok. Be civilized and respect the law of your adopted country. I’m sure that PJ Patterson taught you better than that.

    • Percival James Patterson has not been the prime minister for a really long time @ hmmmm, yes we were all warned and yes I’m very disappointed that Jamaicans are disobeying the law in another man country when the order given is to protect us the civilians, The penalties in Jamaica are harsher than these here and I agree with the stance taken but ALL I can get from your statement is hate towards Jamaicans ( my ass was home btw) and just bitterness…… Go go with sour heart!

      • PJ Patterson was PM of Jamaica at the time when this “pastor” was growing up in St. Catherine. But even now, do you think Andrew Holness would approve of this Jamaican pastor behaviour in other people’s country?

      • How can it be hate towards Jamaicans when Jamaicans insist on constantly breaking laws? Jamaica has one of the highest murder rates in the world. Numbers don’t lie. Culturally, they are known as aggressive people and the people in that video fed right into the description of aggressive and lawless people and it’s even more embarrassing because people would expect better from church folk. If Jamaicans don’t want to be looked at like reckless law breakers… how about following the law? There’s that option.

  2. EMERGENCY RULE – EMERGENCY POWERS – ANTI-SOCIETAL DISTANCING

This could be likened to the ‘…Paul and Silas’ experience [KJV: Acts 16: 16-40].

Not sure if the ‘Good Lord’ might provide some ‘Divine Intervention.

But this ‘Man-of-Cloth,’ may have been ‘…religiously and secularly reckless.’

    This is neither a ‘Rule,’ nor ‘Powers’ to;

    (a) ‘…Ignore;

    (b) …Take likely; or

    (c) …Show scant RASpect.

    No Sah.

Who can’t hear, will be ‘Isolated.’

    Not for ‘Quarantine,’ though.

    Na-a-ah!

  3. but looking at this photo there is no social distancing, no protected gears, and why jail and these people was not check to see if they have the virus, Lord help all the workers, their family and inmates is any of the two is infected. only in Antigua.

    • Shame on you for upholding lawlessness!! And if the good pastor’s immune system makes him vulnerable to covid-19, then why jump to the concluson that he would have got from prison sources and not from the scores of the faithful but reckless lawbreakers.

  4. Pastor or not, even Jamaican or not, this guy cannot flaunt the laws of this nation. As soon as possible he should be sent back to Jamaica, and his denomination should read him out of the church. No pulpits for him. Remember, he pleaded guilty as charged. NO other NT Church of God people act like this guy, and nobody support such lawlessness. The authorities did the right thing. The law is for the lawless.

  5. It’s so unfair….
True he didn’t adhere to the limit of 25 persons…. lawmen intervene…..
Let’s also recall a beach party at deep bay was also stopped by lawmen…
Why wasn’t the person or person(s) also brought before the court?

    • Maybe because they actually complied with the police. Looking from the video more of those church people should have been charged. Espically the one shouting “touch not the Lord’s annoited”.

  6. It was a sad day in Antigua when a church was found breaching the rules of the land.
    According to the scriptures……..
    Romans 13:1-2
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.

    TITUS 3:1 also states
Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work:

In this case the good is that Govt is making every effort to protect each citizen in country from that DEADLY VIRUS…. The church hierchy definitely should have known better….

  7. So a sister went ahead and recorded/filmed all of this gloriously only to have it used against the church in the court of public opinion and provided further evidence of the bad behaviour. Tell you all about dem phones and the urge to quickly record.

  8. Remanding the pastor to prison after he had pleaded guilty seems excessive because I am sure he also offered an explanation. This is not good.

  9. Shame on you for upholding lawlessness!! And if the good pastor’s immune system makes him vulnerable to covid-19, then why jump to the concluson that he would have got from prison sources and not from the scores of the faithful but reckless lawbreakers.

  10. Religion + Arrogance + Ignorance x Illiteracy = People are going to die.

They should charge them with reckless endangerment of lives and close down the church.

  11. There is a pastor in Florida.Who was arrested for breaking the social distancing rules yesterday. He had a mega church full of worshipers yesterday.

  12. This is really excessive, the laws of men are not the laws of the Most High.you want to live yet you cling to the devil and death whiles you hearts are in rebellion to the orchestrator of life itself, is this not ignorance .? You shall surely perish for the lack of knowledge
