PAHO warns dwindling vaccination rates could result in increases cases of polio and other preventable diseases

While COVID-19 continues to take around 4,000 lives each week in the Americas, and monkeypox cases rise, the polio virus has now been detected among unvaccinated communities in New York. In light of this, the Pan American Health Organization Director (PAHO) has called on countries to urgently strengthen surveillance and routine vaccination campaigns.

Although the United States has mounted a swift public health response following the detection, polio is a disease that “I never expected to see in our region again,” Dr Etienne said during a media briefing today.

“It’s been nearly 30 years since the Americas became the first global region to wipe out wild polio,” but “dwindling vaccination rates, worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic, have left many of our populations unprotected.”

Polio, which can spread quickly among communities with insufficient vaccination coverage is not a treatable disease but is fully preventable with vaccines. Yet today, vaccination coverage has fallen below 80% in nearly all of South America, and 12 countries in the region are at High or Very High risk of experiencing an outbreak.

PAHO has been working closely with the United States and has issued several alerts to Member States to remain vigilant and take measures to proactively rea

ch unvaccinated populations with a polio vaccine.

“We must not take the lifesaving power of vaccines for granted,” said Dr. Etienne.

The PAHO Director also urged countries of the region to step up their COVID-19 vaccination campaigns, particularly in the Caribbean, where a number of islands are falling behind.

“If we remain committed, we can keep COVID-19 under control,” she said. “Not by ignoring it but by continuing to make use of the many tools we have at our disposal to trace, and most importantly prevent, infections.”

This includes public health measures that must be promoted, particularly “in places where many remain unvaccinated, or where cases are climbing.”

Turning to the monkeypox outbreak in the region, the PAHO Director warned that cases are also on the rise in parts of the Americas and while deaths remain extremely rare, those with weakened immune systems are at risk of complications from monkeypox infection.

PAHO has been working on the expansion of testing capacity in the region but countries must “act now to control the spread,” particularly while vaccine supplies remain limited.

Active engagement of affected communities is crucial, urged Dr. Etienne. Testing and contact tracing can also have a significant impact on reducing transmission.

As PAHO prepares to meet with Ministers of Health from across the region at the Pan American Sanitary Conference, Dr. Etienne highlighted the opportunity to discuss challenges towards ensuring health in the region and make agreements on how to move forward.

This landmark event is not only a chance to look back and learn from the past but also an “opportunity to look towards the future and our vision of a more equitable region, in which we work together to improve health for all,” she said.

  2. The merchant of doom Dr Etienne is back and being economical with the facts and figures once again.

    In the US, Europe and the UK vaccination figures are on the rise again, for Polio, Chicken Pox, Measles and other life saving vaccines (and rightly so).

    However what Dr Etienne is deliberately not telling Antiguans and the Caribbean Region as a whole, is that the dwindling figures are REALLY from the Covid-19 vaccines, like the “blood clotting” AstraZeneca, the Moderna vaccines that is linked with Myocarditis and Pericarditis, and not forgetting that the Pfizer vaccine is also intrinsically linked with the above for adverse conditions and more.

    In recent times on the “Redacted” podcast show (Dated 25th Sept, titled: They Can’t Hide The Truth Any Longer …”) a funeral director was interviewed and spoke about the unusually high rise in deaths, but what was so chilling was how he explained how extra child sized coffins had to be ordered to meet with the recent high demand. Truly disturbing!

  3. Dr. Etienne, how come people aren’t dropping like flies from covid in Haiti with only a 1% vaccinated population?
    Why don’t you tell the Caribbean people that the new outbreaks of “polio” are vaccines derived from of the oral “polio” vax. — and tell them how many children contracted polio after taking this vaccine and became paralyzed.

    1956: the American Medical Association mandated that all licensed medical doctors could no longer classify polio as polio. All polio diagnosis would be rejected in favor of Guillian-Barre Syndrome, AFP (acute flaccid paralysis), Bell’s Palsy, Cerebral Palsy, ALS, (Lou-Gehrig’s Disease), MS, MD etc etc. This sleight of hand was fabricated with the sole intent of giving the public the impression that the polio vaccine was successful at decreasing polio or eradicating polio. The public bought this hook, line and sinker and to this very day, many pro vaccine arguments are ignited by the manufactured lie regarding the polio vaccine eradicating polio.

    1968: DDT registration cancelled for the US.

    2008: Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) is still a raging in many parts of the world where pesticide use is high, and DDT is still used. AFP. MS, MD, Bell’s Palsy, cerebral palsy, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), Guillian-Barre are all catch basket diagnosis, all similar in symtpoms, tied to heavy metal poisoning and high toxic load.

    2008: WHO states on its website: ‘There is no cure for polio. Its effects are irreversible.’

    Conclusion: Modern belief that polio is caused by a virus is an ongoing tragedy for the children of the world. Public funds are wasted on useless and dangerous vaccines when the children could be treated with antitoxins. A call into failing vaccine mythology is warranted, as is a complete investigation of the real agenda being executed against humanity involving science, chemicals, vaccines, the medical field in general, and the government.
