Overseas Based Foundation Donates COVID Supplies to Schools

A quantity of supplies to aid in the protection of students from the  COVID-19 virus was donated recently to the Ministry of Education, Sports and Creative Industries by the ABAG Foundation.

The supplies include masks, infrared body thermometers and hand sanitizers and will be for the benefit of students at Golden Grove, Green Bay and Jennings Primary Schools and also Clare Hall Secondary, Ottos Comprehensive School and Boys’ Training School.

ABAG Foundation is an affiliate of the Antigua and Barbuda Association of Georgia, with one of its goals being to “assist students of Antiguan and Barbudan heritage achieve their educational goals and become productive citizens.”

Board Chairman, Dean Benta said the foundation is pleased to have donated to the various schools.

“This year, in lieu of scholarships, the foundation is happy to contribute to several public schools in Antigua and Barbuda in their ongoing efforts to cope with the COVID-19 Pandemic.

“The foundation is mindful of the importance of education in the development of our youth and wish to commend the Ministry of Education, principals, teachers and all who work with and in the school system of Antigua and Barbuda,” Mr. Benta concluded.

In accepting the donation, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Rosa Greenaway thanked the ABAG Foundation for the gesture and assured the supplies will go a long way in protecting students at a time when COVID-19 remains a major concern.
