Thieves broke into a house in Willikies and stole a silver double door refrigerator and a washing machine valued at over $5,000. According to Claire Smith, caretaker of the property, the thieves also stole a 20-pound gas cylinder, an electric kettle, a knife set, an electric drill and a grey bag containing a paddle-board.

However, this is only one of many larcenies that have occurred between Monday and Tuesday of this week.

A house in Paynters belonging to Josina France was broken into where the perpetrators broke a window to gain entry into the property. They stole a TCL 20” flat screen television valued $700, and a Toshiba 32” flat screen television valued at just over $500.

George Walker, a Greenbay resident, was also a victim whose home was broken into between Monday and Tuesday. He went to bed around 10pm Monday and when he awoke early the next day he discovered someone had entered the house through the front door. That is, the perpetrator(s) removed the entire door from its frame to gain access to the house. They stole a small quantity of cash which the victim had on a dressing table in the same bedroom where he was asleep.

Another victim, a Federation Road woman, awoke to find an intruder in her house around 3:15 am on Monday. The thief – who she described as being approximately five feet, five inches tall and dark in complexion – shouted “don’t move” when he saw the homeowner.

He ordered her to sit in the living room after he took up her phones and proceeded to search through the house. The bandit also stole the woman’s purse which had $20 in it. He then escaped through a window which he had damaged to get inside.

On Tuesday, a homeowner in Golden Grove reported that she secured her property and went to work that morning, but upon her return, two television sets were missing. One of the sets is a 32” LG and the other a 43” Samsung; together worth $5,000.

  1. I think it’s pretty obvious that this huge increase in crime recently is caused by CARICOM immigrants from other poor surrounding CARICOM countries invading Antigua legally and illegally.

It’s time for Antigua to withdraw from CARICOM now and to kick these people out! We are forced to accept all these people who have no respect for the rule of law because CARICOM rules force us to accept them.

No country will survive if they are forced to accept immigrants that are not in their national interest for future strategic development.

At this point, I only like immigrants to Antigua that come under the our CIP program: they are usually rich and well educated and nice.

  2. Yall need to step up the game in the police force cause this is just really really sad. RN i feel like pple join the force for security (just because they need a job) not because there is a true passion for fighting crimes. Antigua is a small country! come on this is ridiculous now. when people start shoot and kill these dangerous criminals now in self defense yall talk about pple trigger happy.

  3. It’s time to let the defense force and the police patrol more. Our defense is not fighting no wars no where and will not so let the tax payers money work and out them to work.
