The Ministry of Health, Wellness, and the Environment would like to thank the public for the support in curbing plastic leakage of bottles across the island.

That would have littered our coastlines, beaches, and waterways. In addition, to taking up space at the Cook’s sanitary landfill. This project will instead divert our used bottles back into recycled bottles closing the loop.

Week one of the project saw a total of 12,291 bottles collected.

A total of 41 persons participated in collecting and returning bottles ranging from youngsters to seniors.

The cash out total is $1085.28

The epicurean drive has been the busiest location with a minimum of 2000 bottles collected daily.

Collection points between 7-10 July week 1:

Epicurean Drive-9,560

Ebenezer South Mall- 1,732

Crab hole Liquor Cobbs Cross- 999

  1. I take back my criticism that it wouldn’t work. I really thought nobody would bother with the 20 cents. But I will continue to bring all my bottles to the Powels plant.

  2. Is it just empty water 💧 bottles the program interested in? I normally drop off my empty bottles at the Powell’s Recycling Plant. Empty lotion bottles, cooking oil bottles, Clorox bottles, lime juice bottles, body spray bottles, rubbing alcohol bottles, hair spray bottles, house cleaning products bottles, water bottles, and my list goes on, just to name a few.
