Opposition Party Supports Coalition For Next General Election

17

The founder of the small political party is not ruling out the formation of a coalition to challenge the ruling government.

The next general election is due in 2023 and by that time the island could have a coalition of opposition parties if True Labour Party Chairman Vere Bird the third gets his wish.

The “Faithful Nationals” coalition could be an amalgamation of the main opposition United Progressive Party, the Barbuda Peoples Movement, the True Labour Party, the Movement and the National PTA.

Bird III says that his party has been in talks with the United Progressive Party since both parties’ defeat in the 2018 General Election.

He said while he cannot speak for the other parties this party is ready to work with the other parties.

Bird said True Labour will not be dissolved but he prefers a natural process to working together on the basis of trust.

  1. U that desperate ……. the UPP finally bang u into submission WASNT THEY THE ONES WHO HAD THE POLICE MASSACRE U AND JIM HE MUST BE ROLLING IN HIS GRAVE… DONT U REALISE U R A TOTAL FAILURE ….. BOY JUST GO SIT DONG

    • He can’t get his way so he started doing the “sour grapes” dance. Wasn’t he the same one who went down to the Chinese embassy brandishing a Taiwan flag to protest the “new engines” after the blood and hotel lobby press conference? Who are the other members of his party? When was the party’s convention? Who is the deputy leader? Does he seriously see himself becoming Prime Minister with such a double-mind? He should be embarrassed to wear that shirt with the Father of the Nation’s photo on it.

    • People hate a challenge! People hate when others take a fresh perspective! People love conformity! When others don’t fit their mould, they denigrate them! That’s just the way it is!

    • @Curious-The Guy has no shame,i can recall when he had that awful accident that took the lives of two young ladies, the UPP was asking for his head,me and others at work defended him staunchly, you should hear the names they called him. He has allowed arrogance and hatred to turn him into a loser, because i really do not know where they think they are heading with this coalition, this will not stir one thread in the ABLP camp..He is a disgrace to his family’s name.Probably suffering from some emotional damage due to the accident anyway..He makes traitors look like an Angel,Judas would run from him..What an educated fool..

  2. These guys should just save their money, time and effort and go home. PM Browne is doing a great job – he is not perfect, but at least is building Antigua into a truly independent nation-state. Honestly, I didn’t think much of PM Browne at first, but after he has served for more than 5+ years, I really like him and I think he is good for Antigua in so many ways. We are a small nation, one of the smallest on earth – the place is too small for an ‘opposition party’. If you think PM Browne should be doing something different, then just give him a call and write him an email, he is a PM that actually listens to criticism and suggestions on how to do things better.

  3. IT’S A GOOD IDEA SINCE
A REAL, ACTIVE OPPOSITION IS NEEDED TO CHALLENGE DE … AND STAND UP, SPEAK OUT ABOUT THE NONSENSE THIS ADMINISTRATION IS DOING.
HOWEVER, it rarely works since EBBRYBADDY WANT FU BE DE LEADER. GOOD LUCK.

    • Joyrose,..Where is the active opposition? This time around the UPP isn’t even a viable opposition,True labour is a huge joke, The movement is UPP in disguise, why the disguise ? and just who the hell is national PTA? hope that’s not who i think that is,because the president of that group never ran anything in his life, all he does is chat and chat and chat.Tim Hector must be rolling in his grave to see the pussy ass talking clown he has turned into..Is that the active opposition to take down the ABLP?? What a dam joke, somebody wake me,i must be dreaming..

  4. This will not work. Why would we believe for one minute that UPP or the other groups has any interest in working with the former True (?) Labour party, or for that matter working with little Bird? I didn’t even realize this “group” still exists? Maybe they do or maybe they don’t? What is their philosophy? What is their political ideology? Do they have any members or is it a one person “party”? Time will tell. Do what you must do.

  5. Thanks for confirming that the Movement and the PTA are political parties lead by Serpent and Alister Thomas respectively….NOW WE KNOW WHO ELSE LOOKING FOR POWER.

    • Same thing I’m here wondering about the “National PTA”
What on earth does a NATIONAL Parent Teachers Association have with entangling itself in politics? Shouldn’t it be concerned about the relationship btwn {GASP} PARENTS & TEACHERS?

Who are the other members of this National PTA? How did Alister become it’s President? Did he nominate and/or appoint himself? Other than participating in political protests, what does the National PTA have in store for our students? ALLISTER THOMAS is WAN BIG PAPPYSHOW!!! Chat chat chat and run he mouth with no substance. Maybe he should stick to building carnival costumes. What exactly did he do/accomplish as Information Commissioner?

    • Joanne Massiah is a classy leader. No “gutter politics” and protesting for protesting sake. She is a real faithful national because I have heard her both criticize and applaud the government. You think the DNA would go down to Heritage Quay on a busy cruise ship day and protest in the presence of visitors?

      • So true plus after the way the UPP treated her you honestly thing she will be doing anything with Harold ‘Banging Post’ Lovell
