Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle delivered a compelling proposal at the Peoples Parliament last week in a bid to tackle the persisting issue of poorly maintained roads.
Pringle’s innovative solution involves repurposing millions of discarded tires to address the deteriorating road conditions, creating parking lots, and enhancing public spaces across the nation.
Pringle began by emphasizing the urgent need for alternative approaches, stating, “We don’t only speak about the problem; we can offer solutions.”
He urged the government to consider utilizing the millions of tires dumped across the country, particularly on Cooks Street, as a resource to fix roads and improve public spaces.
“I’m saying to the member for Rural North, let’s see how we can use those tires and turn them into material that can help fix the roads,” Pringle passionately asserted.
His proposal extends beyond road repair, as he envisions using repurposed tires to create proper surfaces for parks, basketball courts, and playgrounds—a solution that addresses both infrastructure issues and the lack of recreational spaces.
Pringle highlighted the versatility of repurposed tires, emphasizing their potential to provide durable and cost-effective solutions.
“Not only to fix the roads but also to do parking lots and to create proper plane surfaces for young people to go and play in the various parks,” he elaborated.
The opposition leader’s proposal aimed at leveraging discarded tires as a sustainable resource is an attempt to break away from conventional methods and embrace innovative solutions to longstanding issues.

Its a good idea, This has been there already, he watched you tube. It’s good to bring here but the idea has been shared before. It’s investment and cost. Did he present his research, cost, implementation, maintenance, etc? This needs to be presented not just see something and share the idea. Do your research more.
Shredding tires has different benefits, the first being that these tires take up much less space in public landfills. The second is that it prevents fires since the tires Accumulated they act like a natural bonfire that is ignited by any lightning strike.
There are few uses that can be given to reused rubber because as a reuse value it has very little value except for some of the materials that are extracted from it (metals). In addition to this, when there is a fire, the tires release different oils that leak into the subsoil.
yawns 🥱
It is very easy to come up with ideas and make proposals. However, when the idea is not properly researched then the person or persons making the proposal will look like & sound a fool.. Hence, Pringle is doing just that.. making himself a fool
