OPINION: Thank God The GG Has No Power!

Thank God Gg Has No Power!

It is with complexity and now clarity that I have reached the decision that it is good that the Governor General, the representative of King Charles 111 cannot just call an Inquiry on his own judgment.

If the law and Constitution is read in an unbiased manner it can be interpreted that the GG must function with the advice of Cabinet.

Let us be real, the Brits under whom we are governed, have such respect for their governance, their monarchy and their conventions, that most times there is no need for government to take action, because disgraced persons in power usually resign. Where in the Caribbean is the dignity of resignation a consideration.

Time is being wasted pressuring the GG when he clearly has no intention of following the methodology of his predecessor GG Carlisle, who approached the Cabinet on behalf of the Queen’s Loyal Opposition, and the people who had made the request of him. He simply passed on the request to the appropriate department of the Executive as he was asked to do.

However the need for an inquiry has now spread far beyond the shores of Antigua & Barbuda, as the United States is observing the spread of the migrants, as they seek ways and succeed at means of entering the United States of America through its Caribbean islands.

Except for St. Kitts, the receiver of a drowning disaster, migrant movements and deaths are not being disclosed by other islands in the region. Bodies washed up on another island was quickly dropped from the news, and no discussion is taking place openly.

Although, the UN has been called in by St. Kitts Government to inquire into the ‘migrant issue’ and the way forward, regarding the future of those still on their island.

Returning to demand for GG intervention, has anyone considered how our government could administer with a titular Head of State threatening every move considered out of touch with British norms and culture?

Plus I could not see old Bird, Bradshaw, Burnham and Eric Williams permitting England to give them a Constitution of such great disrespect to the concept of Independence.

Yes, GG must intervene graciously nudging the Executive arm of government to consider the issues brought by the people directly to his Office which represents the King. It is all about diplomacy on behalf of the people (forget the damned pomp and ceremony when it comes to the people!)

Government administration requires constant sensitivity to the demands of the people, especially when if involves virtue, honesty and international relations.

The time has come for the islands of Caricom to move independently or under the authority of Caricom, to open up and air the cause of this dilemma in which we find ourselves.

Our Tourism industry which is commonly shared, demands an investigation, in order to plug holes through which their own economies are threatened.

Time is moving fast, and this serious fault in our Aviation Ministry, coupled with Immigration must be fixed, and moreover, the Executive must accept collective responsibility for this cleverly organized criminal activity perpetrated on Antigua and the other islands of the Caribbean.

  1. Nonsense man! Like it or not, the constitution is laid out in plain English. You would think that the bottom of the intellectual echelon Labourites are even endowed with enough grey matter to decipher this one, but I erred.
It is there in plain, unadulterated language, but we are faced with the fact that a host of Antiguans and Barbudans are compromised, for the filthy lucre. Don’t forget, that in the words of the most reliable source, “perilous times “have” come, and men (and women) shall be lovers of themSELF.”
Patriotic Antiguans and Barbudans are demanding answers to a whole host of things under this Gaston Browne led, corrupt, greedy administration. This we can just add to the list .
An opinion like this article is mute to me. Call the inquiry.

    • ‘Au courant’ @ Watching, you are fully informed and up to date boss … Kudos to you boss 👍

  2. Call the inquiry!!! you don’t know you job. Read the constitution. Since when you don’t know the powers you have?
Man you securing your bread and butter

  3. Has no power??? So how UPP’S Louise Lake-Tack toss out knighthood to she son, de maid, de gardener and everybody cousin? 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

De woman have super powers mercyyyyyyy 🤣 🤣 🤣

  4. Call an Inquiry. The government should not be allowed to police themselves. GB needs to take responsibility.

  5. Like the man said, and let me paraphrase ‘ in the Caribbean corrupt governments just continues to be corrupted with no accountability’. I have said in a previous article that i do not give a damn who has the power to investigate this ‘right in your face’ fiasco with the so-called refugee’s, but it needs to be investigated, period. We need to demand more from someone,to look into this, because as a long time business person in this economy, I know fraud and corruption when I see it. Fraud always have a spin to it, and this entire fiasco had so many spins than what John could read about. And again, I say this with no political ties to anyone absolutely none.
